Looks very well done, pinned and everything.
That axle work is impressive!
Installed newer version windshield wiper on newer cars, silicon blades with dupont teflon coating-blade wiper, got a Bosch fuel filter 71033 and new boots(BMW) and grease for my backup constant velocity joints and axles, they work smoothly-securing holes aligned, put in snap rings with holes and easier removal and install, carefull on how you install the cages, ball bearings, and Star Gear- Rzeppa joint type.[Ford Motor Co Engineer, circa 1926]-one way smooth and flexible other way rigid -not good.

Went to pick and pull and checked out a 1983 320i E21[Getrag 240,drive shaft and 3rd member was gone]and a few items for an upcoming project, Picked up a Front Grill in pretty good shape for $20.00 out the door. I have no idea what they are worth. There was a couple of Rzeppa joint(cv) axles for the taking,,I have a backup pair already pictures above.

Back home for the holidays and that means it's time to fix (and in the process break then fix again) my E21.
Fixed my horn and adjusted the rear drums so I can now park on a hill / sloped driveway with the parking brake. Before I would pull it all the way up and nothing would happen.
For the horn, I got some "HELLA 003399801 Supertone 12V High Tone/Low Tone Twin Horn Kit with Bracket" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000CRZXPI/ Very loud and just a bolt on swap.

The hard part was having to take apart the dash to figure out why the button on the steering wheel wasn't working. After some reading of the Electrical Troubleshooting Manual and multimeter on beep mode checking continuity we finally traced it down to the brown/yellow with white plastic cover over the female spade connector not being plugged into the back of the spring loaded "brush?" that rubs against the back of the steering wheel. Instead that was plugged into another matching white plastic cover over a male spade connector that goes to the turn signal / high beam switch. Couldn't find that referenced in the ETM and everything still seems to work without it plugged into anything so it's just hanging out in there for now.

Anyone know what that other white connector that goes directly to the back of the turn signal / high beam switch is for?

Now for the parking brake. Even after adjusting the drums in the back, we would pull the handbrake and still the wheel would spin. I think the problem then was that one of the bowden cables wasn't looped around the curve on the underside of the handbrake. In the process of trying to figure that out I ended up taking apart both of the drums and the handbrake handle and putting it all back together.
Good side:

Bad side:

The handbrake sorta leans towards the drivers side and the center bushing / spacer tube is just gone. There is tons of left / right play and some of the metal on the sides of the handbrake is getting worn down. Also the cables have been adjusted all the way to the bottom of the threads. I should have taken pictures. But it all probably needs to be freshened up.

Here is a good worksite picture. The garage was full and not gonna jack up the car on the sloped driveway so all the way on the street it is:

Solid White Wire , the fuse box there is one that connects Fog Lt Relay to Relief Relay, another from High Beam Relay to Beam Selector Switch, another from Beam Selector Switch to Instrument Panel Printed Circuit Board Right Side and then one from left Mirror Motor to Mirror Motor switch and then from Mirror Motor switch to Right Mirror Motor, thats all I could find with Solid White Wire Color Code.
From the beam selector switch two white wires connect to 58a on the switch one is from High Beam relay and the other goes to right side instrument panel pin E, Pin F is green and pin D Brn Green. The wiring diagram I have shows no male spade connector with solid white wire there, probably has no power unless beam selector switch is activated, why horn would not work.
Okay ,Turn signal switch is combined with the beam selector switch , separated on my highway diagram
beam selector switch part
58a 2 solid white wires
56 Yellow wire
15 Brown
Turn Signal Part
BL- 2 Blu red wires
49a Grn yel
BR- 2 Blu Blacks
If it all works, high beam indicator light, high beam on temporary and on not temporary and left and right turn signals-- your good ,, I have a look at mine and see if the same when i get a chance.

Upgraded Battery/Power Bus Line
Randy
Thanks Randy, yeah everything worked so just left it unplugged in there.
Also upgraded my handbrake to the E32 one with a real bearing. I got lucky and there happened to be a 1979 733i at my local Pick Your Part near my dads house. And someone had already taken the armrest / storage console so the handbrake was already exposed.
I got the idea from searching around Ski's thread. https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...3#post24418593
It really is a bolt on upgrade and no more wobble. Here's a vid of the original handbrake: https://youtu.be/x24oat_NdQw
And here are some shots comparing the E32 one to my original one:

That's a neat upgrade! Maybe one'll pop up here sometime

Your Welcome, looks like you got a nice upgrade in, the e-brake lever pivoting on a bearing .

Picked up my rebuilt Rayjay turbo. Now it's time to install everything, it's a complete Century turbo kit from the early 80s. I am using a programmable WUR for the fuel enrichment.
Also replaced the little gear in my odometer, worked for 0.4 miles and stopped. Now I have to take the cluster back out...Pictured is the old one right before pulling it off. It was cracked.

Just waiting for my new mounts to come in from classic daily, then i can pul the engine from the 328, and set it in the e21. . . .

Gas Pedal Linkage bushings were gone with the wind, originally they were amber-brown plastic, newer are rubber 18mm and ~$8 ea, rather than wait, I cut a couple of pieces of BMW Fuel Hose 18mm and inserted these, fit is just right, installed the clips, gas pedal linkage is all tight again. I noticed the movement when I was installing the bowden cable. New cable adjusted at the throttle body all the way in for greatest length, big difference between old and new.
Randy
Wow, great idea! Did you just cut the hose to fit in place? What did you use for the clips.
On the cable, is that the one that connects the throttle peddle to the throttle body? So the throttle feels more responsive after changing it out, sounds very worthwhile.

Yes cut enough hose to fit end to end around the pivot bars then push thru the two holes, one on each side of the steering column, then push the clips onto the slot at the end on the pivot bar--its all tight and solid pedal. The Hose replaces No 6 in above diagram, ~ $8/ea per bushing(18 mm) plus shipping and tax.
BMW Gas Hose that connects the two gas tanks together at the top for ventilation is the right size- 12 x 18 mm, I had a foot or extra of this hose I kept so I snipped off a couple of pieces of fuel hose and threaded them around the pivot bars and thru the holes then put the clips back onto the ends of the pivot bars where the slot is for them, saved about $20-$30 and got a solid pedal to boot.
Use the same clips that are there.

Finally picked up the 30A mini fuse I was waiting on for the passenger power seat...it's beautiful. I may or may not be too excited for that
