    Cool Mechanical Oil Pressure Unit

I have been checking eBay for some time for this adapter. It screws into the Distributor housing where oil sending unit screws in, the electric oil sending unit to the instrument cluster oil light screws into the top, the oil pressure gauge unit screws into the side of of it. I understand standard oil pressure is 10 psi per 1K rpm's and limits out, yet unknown, yet it would be cool to see what this oil pump does. I have a new oil pump plus accessories as well. Can find these items on eBay. There are electrical oil pressure units on eBay that fit, yet I wanted to get a mechanical one run by oil pressure.

    Detail of the adapter:

This is the oil pressure gauge that is in bound, it's glycerin filled for use in hot and cold environments. The adapter with this gauge is for different cars so not needed.

Mock up, its 1/4 NPT gauge so wont fit, the above one is 1/8 NPT and does fit.

    Cool

I bought this 1/8 x 1/8 NPT straight extension(actually a pair of them) as well to make sure the oil pressure gauge clears the distributor housing, since the screw in piece on the oil pressure gauge is at 90 degrees the oil pressure reading will be seen vertically anyway.

    Cool

This is what the oil pressure gauge and adapter look like without the oil indicator switch on top and straight extensions which are in as well.

I've run one for years now. Why? Don't know. If anything breaks, I'll have hot oil jetting out everywhere, but, kind of cool/race car, so I did it.

    Cool

The oil pressure switch turns off the oil light in the instrument cluster at .2 ~ .5 Bar (2.9 psi -7.5 psi) having a way to check the oil pressure at higher rpm's is a good way to check the health of the oiling system and its flow through the engine, cylinder head, oil filter, etc. That adapter above can handle both oil pressure switch and oil pressure gauge, best of both worlds and is inexpensive to boot. You can also plumb that adapter to see the gauge all the time in the cabin of the car.
