I recently stumbled upon the coolest thing I have seen to date for car tuning. The "MEgaSquirt" system. It is a DIY S-AFC, and datalogger...and from the looks of it a pretty damn good one....all for about $50 in parts.
Has anyone here implemented this setup yet? If so, how is it working out & how hard was it to get your car all mapped out?
We should get a database going here for anyone interested with good working values for various BMW engines...this could be a GREAT resource (the MegaSquirt that is). Anyway, off to bed..............
Here is a link to the site that tells all about it..........

Acouple VW guys are using it here : VWVORTEX.com :
search on google, there's a GREAT (3rd party) megasquirt FAQ out there somewhere......
Only $50? wow didn't realize it was that cheap.

I was looking around their site and I cannot find where you order parts from. I know that most of the parts (except the PCB) can be purchased at about any eletronics store. What parts do you have to order from THEM exactly....do they send you most of the stuff, or just the PCB for $150? Thanks......
here's the FAQ I was talking about:

Best place to order this type-o-crap is usually DigiKey:

im using it. it cost me about 200.00 all said and done for the board, all the electronics, the TPS, air temp sencor, coolant temp sencor, wires, sodder, crimps, and a used Labtop (p 150) off ebay. its pritty easy to assemble, not so easy to install, and a bit harder to tune. but all in all, i eliminated the afm all together so there is nothing blocking the intake flow to the manifold. the fuel map is an 8x8 map for 64 points of fuel tuning. it hgas alot of cool options like tuning on the fly, there you can richen or lean the fuel while you drive. although it does not controll ignition, the next version SHOULD. but ne next version was suposed to be released spring of this year..
you realy cant get anything better for the money.

Awesome...thats what I like to hear (and I am really tired form studying so that is why this post is pointless)
wow, i just paid 75 for a rrfpr, and i could have paid 200 for this. actually, i have a vaio notebook, so i don't even need to buy a new one. i think it says 140 on their site all together. i installed car stereos for 2 years, so i think this is very doable for me.
my question- is it worth it if i'm only running 8psi max?
There's quite a few guys on www.e30tech.com using it
