Question which "other BMW" model wheels will fit?

If theres a sticky on this then apologies, but I couldnt find this answer:

I have a 1996 328i convertible, it has a set of 15 and 16 inch wheels that fit fine. Suspension is unmodified.

    I have 2 questions?

Do 17's fit and ride well?

What other BMW model and age wheels of 16 and (if they fit) 17 wheels for properly without spacers or other mods?

    Thanks

You can go up to 18" wheels so long as you change the aspect ratio of the tire appropriately. Wheel wise I believe Z3 and Z4 wheels will fit directly. E46 wheels have the same bolt pattern but less offset. They'll fit so long as you don't get too agressive on tire width otherwise you'll get fender rub.

    Stock 225/50 x 16 tire = 24.85" diameter
    235/40 x 17 = 24.4" diameter
    245/35 x 18 = 24.75" diameter

any wheel 15-18 with correctly sized tires will fit given that the bolt pattern is 5x120, and the offset is ~+35-+45 any stock e36 wheels, and stock e46 non M wheels will all fit. remember to get lower profile tires for bigger wheels to ensure stock clearance but also keep in mind that less rubber between the wheel and the road is going to give a harsher ride. most 5 and 7 series wheels, have lower offsets. they'll fit fine if you aren't lowered, but when you start going down you will start getting fender interference. also, i believe all e39s ( i could be wrong, but i don't think i am) have a larger hub diamter, so you'll need to have hubcentric adapters for those
