I have a 2007 X3 that has a problem with the lights. With the ignition off and the key out, the front parking lights, rear taillights (maybe brake) and the halos around the headlights stay ON all the time unless you disconnect the battery.
With the ignition ON and the car running the parking lights, headlights and left side turn signals run all the time. The highbeam indicator is also ON. None of the switches can control any of the lights (headlight switch, high beam switch, turn signal switch), however the hazard flasher switch will cause the four way flash function i.e. the right side turn signals also flash.
I diagnosed it to be the Light Control Switch (LCZ or LCM) module. I believe it is in "Emergency Mode". Replacing the LCZ did not correct the problem.
Anyone know about the Emergency Mode and would cause this problem?
Robert
This turned out to be the front ride height sensor. It was internaly shorting +5 to the sensor input line on the LCM. This powered up the LCM with the key OFF by backfeeding the input line and caused emergency mode with the key ON.
Robert
So Robert how did you fix the short?
My X3 is in emergency mode, exactly like yours.
Thanks
I have the same problem with mine tooo, what can i do please help
Unplugging the ride height sensor made the LCM behave normally. I replaced the sensor myself. The part was about $150.
Robert
Were is the right height sensor located.
