    Is it possible to install vanos on a non vanos transmission

    Hi im just curious i found this earlier today and was wondering is it possible to add it on to my stock auto trans just curious heres the link

    Just heard that vanos is better if your wondering my car is a 1992 325i Auto 183000kms

    The vanos unit is not part of the auto transmission. Its a unit that is installed at the front of the engine block. I suspect your engine doesn't have vanos as it is pre 1993 model. I can't explain the function of the vanos unit but what I can say its similar to Honda's Vtec. But [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M50"]here[/ame] is the link to WIKI which explains abit about vanos for the M50 engine. Anyway you can punch in your VIN number (the last 7 digits of the chassis no) into realoem.com and it should tell you if your engine has vanos or not.
