I did say practically. Same goes for vanilla flavored E36s, they're practically giving them away!

LMAO! So true! Any time Anthony drives a car on the track it becomes worthless. hehe.

Actually I don't think Kevin will ever part with this car. He has poured his heart and soul into it and it shows.

Looks like the points gap in class is more than enough for them to be guaranteed that win.

Here's to hoping they can keep that top 5 spot!!!!!!

UPDATE: Anthony got 4th and 5th place at NJMP yesterday with a fastest lap of 1:13.2. He was squeeked out of a 3rd place finish by only 0.15 seconds total over the 3 laps by a Corvette ZR1!

The times at NJMP bumped him to 5th place overall, ahead of the Porsche GT3 RS, and only 65 points from 4th place.

He got 4th place this morning at Nelson Ledges, making him only 35 points from the 4th place Porsche 997 Turbo. Afternoon session looked good, but don't have results yet.

Unfortunately the clincher to the whole event will probably come down to whether or not Anthony can figure out how to drive in a circle fast for the dry skid pad. He got 53rd out of 68 in the wet skid pad, costing him well over 200 points. Anyone know of a large open parking lot near South Bend, IN where they can practice tonight?

They also got a couple more mentions in MotorTrend. Check out www.DTROneLap.com/#HonorableMentions for details.

Hey guys! Kevin and I are just leaving the Tire Rack on our way home. We are just blown away right now... Sitting on Cloud 9!

Coming into today, we were sitting in 5th overall, with the 997 Turbo in front of us and the GT3 RS behind us. We were not expecting a very good skidpad performance, if using our wet skidpad result (53rd) as any indication. We discussed back and forth how to setup the car for the skidpad and ultimately decided to test it first as it was, since it was supposed to be dry. I took the car to an empty parking lot and felt it out. While at first it was oversteering, if I could manage to get the rear tires just a bit warmed, it was neutral to just a slight push. I gave it all I had in the skidpad, lighting up the rear tires before the run and scrubbing back and forth on my way in. I stayed tight and held the car on the limit, never letting it waver more than 3' from the cones, by trying to keep it within 1'. I did my 2 laps, turned around, did 2 more in the same way, and pulled off. It was good for .995 AVERAGE G, in sub-40 degree weather. It was also good for 7th overall. It sounded like we wouldn't lose a position afterall! In fact, when it came time for awards, we had done better...

I just want to say Thanks to everyone that was involved with this event. The physical and moral support we received was overwhelming to me! Anthony "Did what he does" and it was more than enough to make our presence known. The car was a trooper throughout the whole event! To all of our supporters and sponsors thank you from the bottom of my heart! It isn't going to be easy to repeat this performance... but believe me we have plans for some minor upgrades that will have a profound effect. 2011 OLOA here we come!

BTW... I guess everyone was sorta blown away at the racetracks commenting that that silver flying brick was a rocketship! LOL Still makes me grin with pride

It should be said that there were a LOT of well prepared and driven BMW's in this years One Lap... Two in particular were the 335i of Robin and Brian, and the awesome Z3mcoupe of Neil and Woody... Neil was very keen to point out that he beat us to quickest BMW (but saying fastest... to which I corrected him as we were 4 mph faster ) Nonetheless those two cars' and teams' were run flawelessley and looked good doing so! Congrats to them on their impressive finishes!

For anyone who hasn't run the One Lap (or followed it closely), you can't imagine what an EXTRAORDINARY ACCOMPLISHMENT was made by Kevin and Anthony.

Anthony -- without a doubt -- is an exceptional driver. He was fast and, more importantly for running with the Big Dogs of the One Lap, consistent. But equally important, the car was incredible and is a testament to Kevin's build skills.

Not only did the car hold up to a wide variety of road courses, it also held up to almost 5,000 miles of transits.

Along with many other One Lap veterans, we were awed by what Kevin and Anthony pulled off!

Neil... It was an honor and privilege to have met you and competed with you. You are a genuine ambassador for the event. Anthony and I both feel proud to have been able to spend time with you and Woody! Robyn and Brian are top notch guys as well. Looking forward to speaking with you gentleman in the future! Thanks again!

    Great job Kevin and Anthony!

BTW - I am excited to hear that you guys are planning on 2011. I think you should put her on a diet! Ditch the microwave, satellite radio, frig, and heated massage chairs, that's a lot of weight!!

Hmm, who wants to have Kevin build them an E46 M3 or 335 to dominate the 2011 One Lap of America?

    Very nice build. Great result.

Makes me wonder how a fully dressed SM class E36 Autocross car weighing 2500-2600lbs would do. Probably not very well with this driver at the wheel.

Of note, is our local Auto-X guru Andy Hollis, finishing in 10th with a 949 racing sponsored Honda Civic. Not bad for an econobox.

To be top 5, it would need alot more power.

It takes exceptional drivers (or drives) to do really well in normal(ish) cars. I think Catesby (2nd overall this year) did very well in a 318ti with an S50 motor in it around '99 or so, 3rd overall I believe. Russ Wiles did very well in his stock E36 M3 LTW a few years after that, I forget where he placed but it was well above where a stock E36 anything should finish.

    Carlos.
