Seriously - the scissor jack trick is fucking genius. I've done the rears on about 6 E39s now (multiple times on a few - so probably have done the job about 10-12 times) and I usually use just brute force to push the carrier down so the bottom of the strut can mate to it. I may try this when I do my new 530.. Is it just me though or is the drop a bit more raked than H&Rs?
OMG I still can't decide! I bought a set of oem sport springs for $80, but the hassle of installing and regretting is too much! lol
The price for the oem springs was so temping I bought it instantly, now after viewing all 7 pages, not sure now...
In a word, yes, no regrets. The ride is just the right combination of ride hight and stiffness that I like. That being said, if I had the sport springs, I never would have done it as the difference is not that much, maybe 1/2 inch. Do you know the history on the springs? Did they set ok in the car they were in?
On the other hand, you can probably resell the springs for more than you paid for them...
Good luck!

Looking for an E39 belly pan , passenger front inner fender liner …
Has anyone noticed that the markings on the Vogtland spring has to be upside down to match the spring perches?

Can't really remember whether mine was upside down or not. I guess you have to go more with the fit than the markings. It's been a few months now and the ride has been great. And by the way, for the rear, I had to take about 2 inches off the top and bottom of the spring to get a decent drop. Not sure why the rear springs are made so high on the E39.
Guess he cut off as the rears you can easily cut off a coil without affecting the fitment to the strut BUT will affect rate and blah blah blah
I have a 00-01 528i Sport.
I have the sports suspension but up until this post, I was going to order the Vogtland Springs. Will my current height change that much when I put on my new rims and tires?
I will go from 245-45-17 (F&R) to 245-35-19 and 275-30-19
This is the look I am going for.
This is how my car looks today
do you know that your sport springs ride 2 times better ?
i would not touch sport springs , just new shocks

I am going to swap the wheels out tomorrow and make the determination afterwards.
Is the ride with vogtland similar to eibach or H&R?
I cut 2 inches from the top and 2 inches from the bottom of the spring. Basically as much as possible so that the spring still sits on the shock. I basically mounted rear spring to the shock without using a compressor. I wonder how others get to drop the car so much. Do they use a different shock?
you will need coilovers if you really want to drop it.
G~
I put the new wheels on today.
Stock 528i Sport suspension.
Let me know what you think. Do I still need to lower it?
I wouldn't touch it! Looks good man, what are the specs on the wheels?
Looks perfect man, not worth getting Vogtlands if you have sport already...
