Trimming non-sport bumpstops is 101 stuff and while you're steadfast, "I didn't and my car is fine" might be suitable for you, it doesn't make it right. There are other conspiracy theories out there, like, "All brake rotors are the same" and I wish it were true so they could all cost $19.99 + shipping and handling. Not all forged tools and wrenches are equal, though I wish they were so Snap-On's quality would cost the same as Craftsmen. All metal ain't the same. All bump stops ain't the same.
Just so we are clear, you are endorsing trimming the existing secondary shock absorber? Can I do it by pulling the wheel and cutting a chunk off or do I have to remove and disassemble the strut?

So as an update, my driver's side Monroe shock blew out and the local Advance Auto credited me both front shocks to upgrade to Sachs Sports. The difference is night and day. I know that I am comparing it to a ride that was toast but WOW, what a difference. No question in my mind, this is the setup. The only thing left is a set of 18" style 42s and some nice Contis. Sigh, maybe some day but not any time soon...

its stock though. could it be the struts are blown it still ride smooth also im on spacers in the rear i removed them already
I had the same problem. Both rear springs had broken off a coil. Very common for these cars.

I talked with Jack at JDMWerks, he said he should have some more springs in next week.
Same car, same wheels
6 month difference
BEFORE VT springs : 18" are ugly on NON sport cars , car looks like a JEEP
AFTER VT springs ( today ) : not bad need spacers now

Very nice! Now all you need is a set of 12mm spacers for the rear and 10mm for the front...

You have two sets of 18" style 5s on your two E39s?
And how close are the sport and VT ride heights? They look similar, with VT slightly lower in the front.
OEM Sport ride is the best
VT ~0.5" lower than OEM Sport
OEM Sport

Actually it looks like the rear ride height is exactly the same. VT looks good because of even wheel gap between front and rear.
this is right
VT have the same gap between front and rear which is ~1.5 fingers , depend of tires
also as far as i remember its slightly lower in rear as well

It looks like it's running high to me. I guess it could be that you are running stock struts. I'm 1 finger in the rear and 3/4 finger in the front. I'm plan on going to the lowest perch in the rear of my Koni's though to make the stance more even.
Got my VT springs brand new FS now. Went a different route.

Igor, the Vogtland drop on your car is the best 'look' I've seen on an e39. No stance is better. Just put the hubcaps back orn, please.
