What was the damage when you removed the wind deflector? I've got the same one and want to get rid of it.

The real question would be whether any of us can pass the background check to be approved forthe adoption.

yup, blown motor less than 18 hours after a tbelt change... think it was mechanic's error (guess who the mechanic was )... crank spins, cam does not... although timing was lined up and I did make it 200+ miles before blowing... so who the hell knows..

and this thing will only have an M20 in it...

    I *think* that's a compliment... Thanks...

Euro+ as I'll call it... it has a new interior but there are plans for that too... desperately needs a drop... there are some ideas for a motor but not right now, just need to fix the one I have (or replace junkyard style)

Answered below... see sig and search.. plenty of pics around... also of an iX build before it...

Regardless of what happens with the car, I'm just glad to see Howard back with an E30. I was selling mine a couple weeks ago but haven't had any offers - I took that as a sign that I should keep the car and restore it over the next couple years.
Glad you couldn't get rid of it... Fix that thing!!! Regret getting rid of my iX more than I did the Touring... True Story.

some bubbling at the front of the sunrood panel, a couple scratches, and a "water mark"... needs a buff and wax to be OK but will inevitably be painted.

I think you are becoming the Eddie Haskell of bimmer forums. "Honest, Mrs. Cleaver, if I had known that Wally would actually chug twelve beers, I never would have suggested it." Damn, I think I just showed how old I really am.

Upon repacement of the bushings the rear end 'issue' was taken care of, an oil change done, tbelt ordered and replace on Friday, and the inspection determined I needed tires, BAD.

While drivin to get a set of BBS RZ's locally I blew a tire. 200 miles after replacing the tbelt I blew the engine. Supposedly had some black smoke coming out when I got on it and then had a HUGE puff of black smoke before I lost compression and the car died...

Here is the results of day '2' which is the culmination of some rust repair (hole in trunk), new wheels/tires, new tbelt and all other belts, coolant flush, and then blown engine...

    rescue vehicle:

    Day '2' ends...

    To do list:

Replace M20 (going stock m20... don't care about m50 swap)
Replace cat/muffler - PO has stock cat cut to y pipe to that single tip muffler. welds are nice, bends are not, cat hits my ass on bumps.. also need stock muffler for Mtech 1.
Replace suspension - rear has ill fitting monroe shocks.

Other than those items - namely the blown motor - the car is in great shape.. I undercoated areas that needed it after filing off surface rust (minor, minor areas) and everything else is solid...

Stay tuned... Faux Mtech 1 to be created soon...

But seriously... Should have stayed in retirement.. Never had a blown motor before... Good times...
Don't feel so bad. I blew my engine on day 5 of ownership going to Pick n Pull.

Don't feel bad at all... Getting a motor with 1/2 the miles, forcing me to replace a leaking head gasket, and I've managed to get a stock muffler thrown into the mix to get my exhaust systems 100% stock with OE parts... All in all I think this whole ordeal will leave me with a 100% mechanically sound car... Making suspension the next thing on the list to knock off...

And of course with a mechanically sound car it leaves me plenty of time to create an 'ideal' engine spec for the thing...

HAha, my favorite episode has to either be their fake bath or the one where Beaver gets a not home and Wally helps him out.

funny thing it seems that 6 adjusted themselves like contortionists after the job

serious answer - valves weren't ticking so I didn't do an adjustment while I was there. I thought a valve adjustment was optional?

Basically I broke the 6 rockers on intake side and bent 6 valves on exhaust side...

    Oh well.
