These cars are definitely NOT investment cars. That is to say not to expect high resale after putting a butt-load into them. I think you'll find the general census here is that we own these cars as a hobby and not to turn a dollar.
Without looking at it, it's hard to say but with as many miles as it has on it it's pretty safe to say I highly doubt you'll get a grand for it.
Oh SNAP!!! German Engineering is IN DA HAUS YAH!!!

ive been watching the forums and craigslist for the past few years and i would say that your car in running condition would be worth around 1k here in california to an interested buyer. unfortunately the fact that it is a one owner car will have no effect on the sale price. good luck with the sale, sounds great.
m52 so sweet
All I can say is - it's NOT WORTH IT TO SELL FOR 1g,
it's worth way more than that since you own it, and it drives.
I would not sell it for less than 2.8k if it were me (that's just me though).

that's a HUGE amount of miles. that's the distance to the moon and 1/6th of the way back. I'd expect a 6 inch binder full of receipts - otherwise that "single owner" thing is useless.
It is not a huge amount of miles. If the car was maintained well it's nothing.
Mine is at 320K and it had tough life, it's on original motor, gearbox and diff as well at bunch of other parts. Very reliable and daily driven.
I'd say keep the car, especially if you're the original owner. It's a buyer's market now and things like e21's are worthless, especially with higher miles.
Max
On E21's the mileage is basically irrelevant, one owner is irrelevant, and service records are nearly irrelevant (the engine is only worth about $100, it's not like with an M6 where bad maintenance can end up costing you $10,000). It's worth what it looks like it's worth. Unless it's super clean, no E21 is worth much.
Move to Massachusetts and sell it! They don't sell them (running and with an intact body structure) for less than $2,000 here!

Well I guess its one of those things where its more valuable to you than anyone else, with 315k on the clock I would expect buyers to be more interested in what else is out their first. But why not list it in a few free car advertising sites for a higher price and see if any fish bite and if not then it cost you nothing for trying!
