Yep! My sedan has a factory rear spoiler. In fact, it was part of my criteria when searching.
Someone also mentioned something about salvaged titles. Have to be careful with that because one minor accident on an 100k+ mile car, the insurance company is totaling it. auction values on a higher mileage M3 is nothing, so 3k in damage and she is getting totalled out in many cases

Keep in mind that only 2,252 M3 verts were produced for the U.S. that came with the manual 5 spd transmission so given the amount of time that has passed it might be that only about 1,000 are left?
When I specifically was looking for my manual M3 vert, I really had a hard time finding the right one.

There are even less cars left now considering this thread is two years old.
50% of the original cars still running seems to be a reasonable estimate.
yes guys, 71k is worldwide. i wont be suprised the number of e36 left in the US is below 10k by now.

Lol... I'll say about 1/3 less than when this thread was born 8 years ago...
No matter where you go, there you are...
mine is long gone...looking at a 328i cabrio tomorrow though!
Looks like there were only about 25,000 of the manuals to begin with in the US, the remaining numbers cannot be high. Ironically it is probably the decade in early 00's when they were the cheapest that killed off the most — and which is now driving the prices up so much. in late 2020 clean models under 100k are climbing easily into the mid $20s, high mileage models listed for $15k. Outliers all the way up to 50 - 60 k just for color combos, notably blue and violet.

I got rear-ended a few weeks ago and went full panic mode (after getting rear-ended in the late 2000s when it was worthless and having to fight to get it fixed) - got a lawyer and everything. They've been surprisingly agreeable now that the prices have gone through such a healthy rebound.

Indeed, prices have taken a healthy turn for those that own one. I ended up buying a rusty one for $8k two years ago and had all the rust fixed. It had 129k miles on it when purchased. Now I bet it's worth north of $12k at 160k miles on it. I've been getting a lot of comments from random strangers that haven't seen a clean one in a long time. E36s are classics now, I hope people keep driving theirs as that's what they are for.
I took a '99 convertible out of your country a decade ago.
EU isn't much better. There are still a handfull for sale at any given time, but either very bad and priced to high, or showroom condition/garage queens priced even higher.
And nothing gets sold.
I'd love to know how many of the 1763 BK91's are still on the road today. Let alone how many of the 15 made in Alpine White.

Your car is worth $16k all day long.
I just had the fight of my life with the insurance company of the gal who rear-ended me a month ago - and I won in no small part because nice cars with mileage in the 130s - 170s are selling for $15-$19k.
In the next week or so I'm going to write a big post about the experience and what you can do to get them to respect you, but long story short is that these rising values will get you a long ways. The market for these cars is pretty hot right now for so many reasons, including the fact that the cheap / crappy ones have all been scooped up for race cars or restored, and almost everything left is either a well-maintained driver or a garage queen.
Any E36 that are in decent shape and relatively stock are selling for $18k-$24k CAD regardless of mileage. It's not easy to find Canadian M3's anymore and it looks like they're getting harder and harder to find in the US as well. I don't expect the E36 to see price increases like the E30 has seen but who knows.
Hagerty values my 1999 Fern on Beige M3 Coupe with 187,000km (116,000 miles) at $30,000 CDN. Not sure what to make of that but I don't think I'll be selling mine anytime soon.
