Tricord -- My man. I was wondering if you were ever going to use bimmerforums. How are the E21's? still multiplying like rabbits?
jeese CJ just wont let this thread die huh?

Hey what can I say.... Not trying to own this thread or anything, not like it decimated the registry views or post or anything like that j/k , I just love to see pics of our cars:
OH Thought I'd show you my other e21, never take it out of the garage, shes such a queen
Blitz, why does that Alpina have a Dutch license plate?

Currently it looks like this:
<img src=http://e21.tricord.cjb.net/images/illustrations/dismantle22.jpg>
Close to bare shell. Getting ready to restore the body and rebuild the engine.
This is one of the 1000 limited "S" edition 323i's ever produced.
It had many factory options, including leather sport wheel, recaro interior, two-tone paint, BBS front spoiler, and full Bilstein sport suspension. All stock, I kid you not
She's in good hands with you Tri.. Be gentle
Happy Turkey Day Everyone!

e30 325i, the mighty 4 door granma mobile....Gone
e39 528i, 4 door sports tank
: Stick with hennarot
Just came back from Thanksgiving holiday. This year, I took the e21 to my parent's home. I must say, I had immense fun putting her out on a nice 1,500 mile round trip workout. Along the way, I discovered a few things that needs to be taken care of.
1) expansion tank is leaking at the seams- a new one at Bavauto.com is $45 USD - that's cheap, IMO.
2) @ 85mph, I go Shimmy,shimmy co-co-pa. - need to get new bushings, but which one(s) I have not a clue at this point.
3) Heater motor squeaking drove me nuts - need to squirt WD40 into the squirrel cage's bushings.
4) Cigarette lighter socket works just fine when I want to fire up a Cohiba, but it would not run my laptop - so my kids had to sit through the 10 hr ride without a DVD player.
This car really impresses me with its quick bursts of acceleration out on the highway. At 75-80mph, I can pull past just about any speeding car/suv just by a mere push of the gas pedal. I just love the stares I get when I blow past drivers pulling a small trailer loaded with furniture pieces (mom's donation to me) and a roof cargo box.
So, here's a(nother) random pix I took of my car ( at a rest stop enroute home yesterday).
And besides eating alot of turkey, just what did everyone here get to do over the holidays ?
im digging the aerodynamic suitcase box wing! very stylish!
as far as the shimmy, check your control arm bushings. tie rod ends.
i stayed at home and ate turkey (lots of it) as well..
Man you crack me up , does that trailer even disconnect from your car, did it come like that from the factory? Just wait till you take it off and that luggage box up top, you might think someone dropped a V8 in their...
Think twice about squirting WD-40 in the "squirrel’s cage" (that’s so true) it might end up smelling like sweet ol’ WD-40 till next Turkey Day, but what do I know?
Besides lots of turkey and BeeR, went to my Grandma's house with the rest of the family, forgot about school for a good week, but its Monday so back to reality, DoH!!! I forgot about a paper I have to do, Anybody know anything on thermal dynamics and yield points on structural steel, j/k, no seriously ...
lol, yeah that trailer must be stock (it's in pretty much all dhoang's pics....lol).
for shimmy, like matt said, check ur control arm to sway bar bushings.....bavauto sells these anti-shimmy kits. i just got these new control arms w/ urethane bushings & it got rid of all the shimmy (i used to have a slight shimmy between 45-50mph).
but most shimmy is around that 45mph mark.....so if ur getting shimmy at 85mph and above.....it could be that ur wheels need to be re-balanced
Oh I forgot to mention that I had a similar shimmy at 75-80 due to a rim being a little bent, switched it to the rear and solved the problem, so check your wheels balances out
I think my wheels are outta balance. Before I took my car under the wrench I was out on the 101 rippin it up. Broke tripple digits, but the shimmy was getting pretty bad. It was definatly worse in 5th gear than 4th though... Dunno. I'd be happy crusin in 4th, pop it into fifth and I'd pick up mad vibrations.
