I want to do this with my Topaz Blue E46 Coupe's Roof but the vinyl I have isn't wide enough to do in one sheet... I think the rolls I have are between 2' and 3' wide. will have to measure the car to see ;-)

I cut and sell vinyl decals on the side its not a serious business but I try to have fun with it.

Also, do you have any pics of an alpine e36 with a matte black roof? I can't decide if I'd like that look as opposed to the gloss

I only have pictures of one E36 that has a matte black roof, and it was darksidee36's car when it was green.

I'll post those up once I find them.

Hey Don have you ever thought about doing this for a shop? or is it more profitable to do it out of your garage? You just seem to have some pretty immense talent with vinyl.

For a shop or as a shop?

For a shop, the answer is no. I don't plan on working under/for anybody, especially with this stuff. I've done that enough in the past within the automotive industry, and it's not for me. I don't even want to get involved or be associated with it anymore. This way, I get to do things as I want to, have the quality control that I want, keep things more personal, and get to say whatever/however I want without worrying about anything.

As a shop, the answer is still no. This is just a hobby, and a skill set that I happen to have, but it is not a career. I enjoy meeting and talking to people, and doing this stuff allows me to meet/see all kinds of various cars (not just euro, jdm, etc). I also rather do a couple of cars at my leisure than to be inside a shop/warehouse for 8-10 hours a day. No thanks.

With the cars with the sunroof do you overlay a piece over the entire roof at once or do you do the sunroof with a different piece? Basically wondering how the CF lines up...

You mentioned the E60 was the hardest roof to do. Why is that?

I can do it either way, and I can get the cf to line up with each other regardless.

The overall design of the E60's roof is completely different than other BMWs, and it just makes it overall harder to do in every aspect.

Installed gloss black vinyl on the window trim of this E46 M3 and tinted his tail lights.

I probably should have done a better job of cleaning the window trim before taking the pictures. There's palm/finger prints from me installing all over it, haha.
