Hey guys just some questions how did you work your fuel lines just cut the ends off where the banjo bolts went in?
ta man .
After pulling on them a little bit, the braided lines will probably bust and leak anyway. It's better to just replace them while your down there.
In the engine compartment, i cut off both lines (supply and return) down just above the frame rail.
Left the return alone and disconnected/plugged it at the tank.
I cleaned it up and put the braided line right on the supply line, put a clamp on it.

I recently ordered a Holley 5200 to see how it works. I know the linkage is reverse but we'll see after a rigging
That and a remanufactured one is 85 bucks with shipping . (http://www.aaaaautomotive.com/) Well it comes in tomorrow I'll update tomorrow night.
Someone used to have a 650 holley on hakhawks old car, old man runs a edelbrock on his e21. Theirs nothing wrong with american style carbs there just really expensive here for the small ones. Everyone runs weber over here, hell you go on ebay "hiace 1.3 van 32/36 converstion kit " "diahatsu 32/36 conversion kit". plus webers are tits.
Ok the 5200 runs great with exception to having to rig the linkage up. It's a hassle but for 85 bucks for a great running carb it's really not bad if your willing to do the work. Will post pics when I can borrow a digital camera
I am currently trying to figure out the linkage on a holley 5200. Has anyone done this before? Would be able to post pictures?
I can only speak for 6-Cylinder/Original Solex 4A1 Carb or 6-Cylinder/Edelbrock Carb combinations but looking at a Holley 5200 picture on the internet it seems you can use the linkage I used -- its an original BMW part for 320/6 carburated e21s.
I will post 2 pics -- one on the driver-side, and one on the passenger-side so you can see how the mechanics work.

Passenger-side view with Edelbrock Carb

I hope these help.

Hey did you guys gut the in tank pump for this swap? or is it just a sending unit on a 79 320i? nonetheless i was thinking of leaving it and supplying the low pressure pump that i am going to mount outside and using the return line with a regulator since its already their or would leaving both pumps mess something up?
The in tank pump is low pressure, but not needed. Just remove it as I mentioned before and use the return tube that reaches the bottom of the tank. The return line easily fits standard 5/16 fuel line up top and in the engine bay near the rail another small piece of 5/16 to the carb.

this is how I did mine - I mounted the carb facing forward - not sure how well a holley would work facing back wards?
Bought a hotrod throttle cable and fit it in.
