I just wanted you guys to see my ESS Supeerahrger kit. This should work pretty easily for any 1995 or older 840i.
Not too bad of a price tag.
Current:
'03 E46 M3 - full bolt on
'95 E36 M3
Past:
'02 E39 M5
'94 E36 325is M-Technic
'91 E31 850i
Damn, good things always pop up when I'm pinched for ca$h

not to throw a spanner in the works, but I doubt this is bolt-on. the engine bay on an e31 is different from a 5 series.
First thing that comes to mind is that the ducting wont fit.
second questiuonis if anything will be in the way of the SC itself and its mounting bracket.
I'm sure it can be made to fit, but I dont think it a simple bolton thing.
If it was then ESS would have offered this kit for the 840... which they don't.

It is the same kit I had fitted to my 840.
Sure it bolts straight on but only after sme new locating holes are drilled in the bracket, every thing else is plug & play
How many miles did you put on it StevieP?
Talking cross purposes methinks. It's not THE same SC is it StevieP. I just realised you're in england and am assuming that you didn't sell it to my540.

When I replied I didn't realise it was a My540 user name
I could have said "the same as fitted to my old 840"
Where'd you get your's from StevieP and how much did it cost (if you don't mind my asking)?
If you go to the ESS web site, they list their UK agents, the nearest to me were Simpson Motorsports who did my job.
I think the kit is around £4k + £2k labour charge
Your E30 should be ballistic with a Blower
I want to know the exact supercharger kit you used so I can buy it and modify it to fit my 840ci. Also do you know how many extra holes they added and were to make it fit?
I know this thread's a bit old, but I'm just now looking into supercharging my 94 840ci. It seems the ess for the 540i is a bolt on kit, even for the 840ci after a few drillings here and there. Now is it true that no tuning is required with the chip in place? This chip I would assume, replaces the factory chip or the wokke chip which I currently have. What kind of numbers would I be looking at if the exact same ess kit was used?
I'm still here
Ess req us to send the complete ecu to them for reprogramming, although they may well now have a plug in 'chip available'??
The power was spot on 400 bhp, it is possible to get more but then the crank pulley will need replacing, however with my car being Auto trans it was agreed 400 was enough for the auto box.
HTH

Thx Steve, I will most likely test out the auto box first before a 6spd swap. Looks like you are having quite a bit of fun here. How long have you had it and how reliable is it?
I sold it to a UK Dealer 3 yrs ago, remained for sale all that time until some Dude from Germany bought it, drove it back home & broke it for parts
so stevie would u say it was a clean setup for the time u had it? I just got a m60 840.... have u guys herd about toolmans kit using the eaton m112?
