Burning oil ??

Hi group,

I think I saw a past thread about this.. but I was just told that M engines tend to burn more oil than other BMW engines ... Was told by BMW tech that it burns a quart of oil every 700 miles ? Wow I know that these are high performance engines but isn't this too much ???: :

That might be a little excessive. But that is based on my experience with my engine. Some of that depends on how you ddrive. The 318 I had burned about the same amount of oil my M does. And I bought the 318 brand new so I know what sort of treatment the engine had.

I go through about a half quart in that same distance. Now that this is in my head, I am going to pay closer attention to try to find out what rate it really is.
