    bmw 325i conv.

    check engine light on front dash

    325i 1995 97,000 miles.... check engine light just came on... i read the manual and it says it is an emission issue... before i take it to the dealer and get stroked for this service i was wondering if anyone has had this happen and is it remedied simply ourselves.... thx

    The CEL can come on for any of a number of reasons. The car has to be scanned for fault codes to determine why the light is on. Once the nature of the fault is known you can probably fix it yourself.
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
