a special request to the junkyard/boneyard "vultures':
in case you find cleaning cloths, please take them and send them to me, the better condition the more appreciated. That blue cleaning cloth is no longer available from the dealer, discontinued.
Basicaly all BMW till approx production 1994 when the E38 came onto the market had this blue cloth, the E36 tool box includes this cloth too (apparently)
16 Polishing cloth 71 11 1 115 810 Production discontinued, as per my VIN EE13461 of the E36 M3 I just bought , here http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E3...tool_tool_box/

Yup, just 2 weeks ago went to our local dealer to order one of thouse and they've told me the production is discontiniued.
and it is still not original, quite an amount, but the enthusiasts will probably pay.
Of course I can order some like these, but original is original.$40 each shipped or two for $75. Logo is in lower left corner in low contrast ink as original

Laugh away, but over 75 sold, especially when originals are starting to go for $75-$80. Obviously the real players are the E9 and E24 guys.

good for you, but I want original ;-)

Got those too. But they are expensive. What color do you think is original for your car, as BMW made two different blue ones and a mint green one without a logo. On top of that they also sold a three pack of micro fiber cloths for $29 without a logo. Those you could buy for .50

Haha, I love how you can update ancient threads. It took me a few min to find my own thread from last summer I wanted to update, but I imagine with all of your threads it must be even harder...Or you have them all bookmarked or something!
Congrats on the Blue Cleaning Cloth, I have yet to open a tool kit and find a complete set much less a triangle or blue cloth

it even had an original BMW first aid kit under the passenger front seat, still completely sealed, of course the stuff inside is expired "since some days"
but that does not matter, always were looking for such an original first aid kit for my collection of goodies.

My tool kit still has the blue cloth, but is missing some other parts, including the tow hook. I was excited to find a complete tool kit at a junk yard in a newly arrived E46. Got it home, and all the tools are different sizes. I think the wheel positioning rod was the only thing that was the same. I don't even think the sun roof allen wrench was the same. It did not have a cloth.
If anyone needs an E46 tool kit. Let me know.

trunk tool kit looks like this
http://s71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...trunktools.jpg
sunroof tool is only included when the car has a sunroof, and the spark plug tool for the 750 looks a bit different from the 735, the 750 spark plug tool can be extended telescope style to get to the deep seated plugs in the M70.

I didn't know that it came with a blue cloth =(Originally Posted by shogun
And is the first aid kit under the seat a standard feature on an E32, or is it 750 only? Because I know on the E38 they had a first aid kit in the back behind the center seat, and I had an extra so I put one in my E32, but I never found an E32 first aid kit (I never knew where to look).
Oh, and you're lucky to have an emergency triangle, if that is the original one. I have yet to see one for my 735, and even the dealership couldn't help.
oh well, I have all the actual tools, so I'm prepared for an emergency.

based on my VIN Japan spec vehicles came with warning triangle
http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E3...tool_tool_box/
Warning triangle 71 60 1 179 041 Left-hand drive For vehicles with: National version Japan (L807A)
not sure if that is same in USA.
plus Car tool/Lifting jack
Chock, steel 71 11 1 179
Lifting jack 71 12 1 128 771 or 71 12 1 180 186 For vehicles with: National version Australia (L810A)
Crank adjustable 71 12 1 129 746I have never seen so far
Bracket for spare wheel 71 15 1 180 625
First aid kit was not available for all countries. For example in Japan they are rare and by built year, because BMW needed a special inspection certificate when importing the car as this was at that time considered as medical supply/equipment and was checked by a different import section. For example my 11/88 did not come with it.
here is the first aid kit shown
http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E3.../front_seat-3/
they put the first aid kit under the passenger seat so that even when in a crash the trunk lid could not be opened anymore, one can access the first aid kit from under seat.

I got all the tools from a 525 at pull a part. Now just missing the cloth and the triangle.

Another rare find: I got a rare first aid kit from under the front seat passenger side out of my 04/1994 E32 750iL parts car. Never opened, original as it came from the factory, outside shrink wrapped and that is covered with dust over abt. 20 years. I will leave it like that, will not open it

I was emailing a friend in Germany. The guy who found me the correct warning triangle for my tool kit. Asked him about the blue cloth and he showed me an ebay ad where one was just sold for....................well you have to see to believe. Click the link

Makes the perfect blue cloth I found in the trunk of an E32 at the junk yard even sweeter! The trunk was locked, so I had to break through from the back seat. No ski bag, so it took some effort - but worth it in the end. Oddly, most of the tool kit was gone, but I did get some left overs, and the cloth was still folded neatly. Just an FYI, the early rounded corner rags are worth more and for anyone restoring an E28, they are very, very hard to find.

I have to say, if you're looking to complete the E32 tool kit, other than finding the warning triangle from Germany (there are a few that fit), the blue cloth from Bert really did the job here. Folded in half, it seems right at home........not that it will ever see a dipstick.
Thank you Jeff, seiing you pleased with my cloths is a compliment. Guys I still have some more of these.

Most of the tools, like wrenches, that are dealer available, are not as original. originals have BMW stamped into them. i sell a lot of tools and have a box full of wrenches etc and some Z tools. There is also a difference in wrenches that may be found. By this I mean out of an e30 which are commonly found. They look cheap, the shank is different from the proper ones. Some e28s with a small tool kit also have them. The "good" wrenches are for a large cased tool kit.If you want the replacements you can get them at the dealer for $12-$18 depending on size.
I still have the cloths at $40 and that beats the one on German ebay, and, as Jeff said, they are true and accurate repros
