Nice photos - some of the cars look good from the front/font 45 shots and I'm sure I'll warm to them (hoping feverishly) before the end of the season.
I'll await comment on the times until after all the drivers have had a stint.
I hope Buemi was on a full fuel load.
I hate them all and find their wheelbase stupid (even though necessary).
I do not expect to warm up to them at all. I still prefer the '08s cars the most.
Never got used to the '09s, really.
The Williams seems suspiciously short.
And yeah, something is up with Buemi. Either a full load + cold tires, or the others are runing below spec weight, 6 seconds off the pace makes no sense at all.

The way I'm dealing with the cars is by trying to accept them. For me there is no point in hating on them when there's bugger all I can do to make them look any different.
Yes, getting rid of refueling was ridiculous IMO. The wheel covers gone are a good thing - less complications = less trouble and chance for error.
I really didn't like the look of the 08s - too many curves and way too busy. I miss the simplicity of the 90s cars and the curiosity of the 80s cars but that will never a happen again for many reasons.
So, basically, I'm trying to love the sport again and see past the foibles (management/rules/cars/etc) and just trying to get some enjoyment out of it.
I haven't seen a full side view of the williams but if it is shorter then I'd really like to know how/where they fit the fuel cell/s.
Schumachers goes away for three years, comes back, and within 20 laps, beats Rosberg's time.
Wow. I do not like the guy, but you gotta hand it to him... he knows how to drive.

MS was pretty impressive, but, as we all know, testing is just that, testing and really does not paint a picture of what happens in Australia. Oops I mean Bahrain, or is it India?
40 more days.....

Thanks, I just found it on BBC sport.
I check planetF1, JameAllenonF1, and Formula1 daily.
When I was a kid my dad used to get Autosport all the time. Loved that periodical. Will have to bookmark it now again.
Thanks.
Like I said in a previous thread, I believe that Schumi at 99.8% is better than most drivers at 100%. But, having said that, we don't know track conditions etc maybe it was quicker in the afternoon sun? But, here I am making assumptions again.
Buemi had gearbox issues and only managed 18 laps (teams were averaging between 70-100 laps... with driver changes).
Rosberg was off by .6 seconds, but then he ran in the morning session when the track was cooler. I'll reserve judgement on speed until the run the first session of qualifying for Bahrain.

Are all of these cars running with their final colors? I ask because teams like Renault and Sauber have absolutely no stickers on their cars other than the mandatory ones...
All of Renault's sponsors bailed after the crashgate. That's why they hired Petrov (on talent alone, of course).
Sauber also has very little money.
Unless these teams come up with decent performance to attract sponsors (and judging by de la Rosa's pace, they're probably running light to make it look like they've got the speed), they'll have a hard time surviving.

You also have to take into consideration Re: Schumi vs. Rosberg times that Rosberg's time spent in the AM is translated over to Schumi's efforts in the afternoon. MS gets the benefit of building off of the work done with Nico in the AM. Not to mention, it sounds like the temps are quite cold so the afternoon should have more grip available.
Nico always seemed like a pretty switched on guy and being a tenth off Schumi shouldn't play into his head at all. Although saying that, drivers always and forever want to be faster than the teammate no matter what the circumstances.
He's over half a second off for now, for the record.
Different conditions, MS benefits from Rosberg's work, this is all true.
What is also true is that one is a 41 year old dude coming out of 3 years of retirement, the other is a young star who's been driving F1 cars non stop for the last few years, and the old guy still came out on top.
And Massa's best time this PM was only 0.2 secs off the pace of his AM time.
This will be interesting.

Of course, these times are largely meaningless since nobody knows the fuel condition they were run with.
Now if they published long run data and fuel consumption figures...

Hugo, but that 41 year old guy who just came out of retirement happens to have also won 7 World Titles!! and its not like he has been sitting around for the past 3 years.
I was also just looking at the pictures from Day 2 of Testing and i must say that the Mercedes car looks mean as hell.

Awesome. Just fun to read! Stole some diffuser shots from another forum...
Whatcha think?
Sensors to see if the exhaust is going to melt/burn the CF?
Couple cars front wing corners and add-on/additional aero at side pods... good to 'compare'.
Merc looks weird with the obvious 'add-on' aero piece.
And shots just showing what we want to see.... the cars moving and getting closer to racing!

Nice shots.
The RB looks hideous - even when compared to the others
Sweet, running a periscope on the Ferrari - Mercedes 2 degrees to port - fire torpedos
I checked through rule changes and cannot see why some teams are running a sail between the intake and the rear spoiler... is it purely for aero?
