    Question Diff Swap. Seeking Advice....

    Hey y'all,

I'll be swapping my open diff for a LSD in my '92 325is tonight and want to prepare for any "gotchas" that may pop up.

I'm particularly interested in any information pertaining to swapping the 4/6 bolt input/output flanges. I'll be following my Bentley manual, but any add'l info. would be appreciated.

Also, it looks like there are inverted Torx bolts holding the axles in place. Anyone know what size these are? I'll need to pick them up today.

And, yes, I'm planning on running Redline 75W90 N/S for the fluid.

    Thanks in advance,
    Tommy

I just did a rear bearing change recently, and they surprised me. Had to check 5 stores before I found one that sold inverted torx sockets.
Be careful about stripping them. I had to tap the sockets onto the bolts with a hammer to get them to seat well.

Thanks! A trip to the Craftsman section is in my future on my drive home.

I may just do that since I haven't found any online anywhere.
