Start with the rim, most likely bent.....if that fixes it you're on your way. If not control arms, etc......

if it's the rim, it will be visually obvious since with a 17" wheel it would have to be sidewall damage, since the tires provide enough protection i assume.

    Welcome here Scott.

Your wheel can probably be fixed. Look up wheel repair in your area.

Also check the tire, if you hit it hard enough could cause a bubble.

Shaking and pulling does not sound like a rim, or tire.

An egg shaped wheel you dont think would cause some shaking? lol

It Im sure is also knocked out of alignment...

But he knows the wheel is damaged...so start there...

A bent rim can definitely cause shaking. If the shaking is bad enough, then it will pull to that side.

The shaking, sure, it is the combination of "shaking and pulling" that concerned me.

Well once the wheel is fixed, then you can check the driveability and further suspension/alignment problems.

Unless you can like see a broken suspension piece.

i absolutely hear what NRG is saying.

a bent wheel would in theory absolutely cause wobble and pull. BUT the tire is made of rubber and can conform easily to imperfections in the wheel.

and if it's bent soooo bad that the tire cannot conform enough, it would start to lose air.

How big of a pothole did you hit? It must of been massive if you bent a rim. We once hit a hole, which was actually where the road washed out that was about 10" deep, not sure how wide ( probably less than 2ft ) with the 740 doing about 40-50 mph (must of jumped the gap). The impact was extremely violent but there was no damage. Considering my experience, I am surprised you are ok. I am sure your lower profile tires didn't help either.

You absolutely can bend a wheel bad enough to violently shake and not loose air.

    I know.

And if the rim is egg shaped....teh tired will conform to the egg. It may or may not lose air.

OP..You can try swapping them...only if you dont have a staggered set.

If you were going to swap...swap sides....in front and see if it pulls that way then.

But seriously...fix the wheel first. You know its bad.

    Or....Idea Put the spare on.

Take the wheel off, roll it & see if it's bent and visually check your suspension components while you're at it.

Replace that wheel with your spare, or switch it to the left side to see if the problem moves with it.

Contact the city also! Where I live if a pothole is reported by multiple people, any damage to car is paid for by the city. You might be able to get them to pay for the damage.
