I think you will find that v6.4.3 is 15 bit and v6.4.7 is 32 bit.

I bought a Dell Latitude D630 (with a real serial) and an interchangeable interface do-it auto. Inpa initial version installed and tested in M3 2002 (working as OBD). I finished to install Dis V44 and passed the test API.
My question is: To use with my E36 94 I need to change from OBD to ADS only on Ediabas.ini?

With the do-it auto interface you need to select ADS mode on the interface, change the Interface = *** statement in Ediabas.ini to Interface =ADS, make sure that you have run the ADS hardware setup in c:\EDIABAS\Hardware, reboot the machine and run the software as normal.

For all the people to follow this late stage of doing a DIS/GT1 install on an older LAptop like mine an IBM TP t23 or Dell 600M both have a 32 bit cpu . The req for VMware 4.x.x is a 64 bit cpu so don't even bother trying to install Vmware 4.x.x unless you have a64 bit cpu.

Wmware player 3.1 does support 32 bit cpu. I have it install but didn't know that it req a partition of it's own on the HD. So of course it fails at that point. SO I have to go back and partition the HD to get it to go on.

BTW I have installed the INPA EDIAGBAS successfully on the T23. I don't have the money to go out and buy a newer 64bit cpu laptop. So I am trying to use what I have.

I really started out on this journey about 4-5 yrs ago but got side tracked with illness in the family.

Just want to add if you do have a desktop with a 64bit cpu you could install the vnware workstation 4.0x.x on it create the DIS/gt! imaage file in 32 bit mode and then export the image file and import it to the vmware 3.1 playerr on the 32 bit cpu and run it there.

All because VMware didn't want to support it's products on a 32 bit cpu as the technology ages. That's another issue not for this forum.

i have vmware 6.5 running on my ibm t23 fine.

I tried installing 4.x.x as well 6.x.x as well as some other version on both my t23 and 600m and it fails with a message " You don't have the features on the cpu to support this software"

If you run msconfig32.exe look at CPU and it's is supposed to say EMT 64 not x86 . You can also look art Regedit HKLM\hardware\description\system\central processor\0 the iddentifier should say 64 . This is what the software checks to see if your are on a 64 bit cpu .

Which just now had an idea I may try changing the identifier to 64 but this may get a little tricky if I reboot and the OS tries some instructions req 64 bit cpu then I am dead in the water and would have to restore my system .
I'll have to think on this.

I am running windows xp pro on the t23 and windows xp home on the 600m.

When you go to the Vmware site in the req to run either vmware workshop 4.x.x or vmware player 4.x.x req uires a 64 bit capable cpu.

Are you running windows or are you running some variant of Linux. However with linux you wouldn't need Vmare for Dis/GT1 only for running Ediabas /INpA because they run fine under windows.

I'd be interested how you did it and how long ago you did the install.

im running xp pro,i have 3 laptops,t23 and 2 t30's all have vmware 6.5 and run dis with no probs,on the t23 in regedit under identifier it says x86 family 6 model 11 stepping 4.
i downloaded vmware from one of the file sharing sites,cant remember which thread on here the link is from though,try the progman thread.
also i have never visited the vmware site,never had to.

Since you have it running under a setup that I also have I have to believe that all the versions I have tried are a newer installer that checks for the 64 bit cpu.

It seems as if all the file sharing sites including the one embedded in the post that I got all my info from no longer have a valid link . The link in the post is for 4shared.com. I even created a id and the software has been removed. I get link is not valid even when I am logged in.

So the critical link that I need to complete my install remains elusive,

I started on this because I just went thru a set of problem om my 7 . I ended up replacing an item called the swirl jet pump made out of plastic and the left bank CPS sensor as well #2 cyl coil . The parts were easy to replace but having to back to my INDY to reset my SES lite was a pain. Not hard but time consuming especially over a w/e.

So I decided that next time I would be ready.

Jamie123 not necessary. I did a search on vmware and a member of this forum created a complete compilation on 4shared and I did find it and will try to install.

Thanks for verification and recommendation that led to my searches and finally found vmware 6.5.

After downloading. Unpacking got errors. So back to downloading a second time. And try again.

I guess my previous post did not make. I re-download parts 1-4 .1 being the most important. The previous download was either incomplete or corrupt .

My second attempt was successful at installing workstation 6.5. This is the only one in existence that will install on a 32 bit processor.

Want to thank everyone of you who have contributed to this common knowledge with out every ones input all this stuff is just stuff. With it it is a worth while tools for our personal use.

I have a T23 1.13 GHZ 384 RAm 50GBHd xp pro sp3. I also have a Dell 600m 1.1 GHZ 2GB 20Gb hd xp home Sp3.

I have been focusing on the T23 . I have installed VMWARE 6.5 . Have created several guest configs but they all seem to fail at VM HD initialization if they get that far. I get this far if I preallocate the space for the vm guest.

I also specifically created a drv "D" partition but any guest that I point to the 0.1 partition gets a failed to read Vol lablel. This parttion is usable under XP and has a good Vol label.

I once managed to get to a reboot but then it failed with no bootable OS found.

I obviously need some assistance. Virtual system under window was a lot easier to setup under WIN 7 to creat a xp virtual guest to do some support for people still on XP.

Because the DRV d partition was created after Vmware was installed I thought the problem was that Vmware was remembering the old Vol label . SO I un installed Vmware and reinstalled it no difference. Except now the default ram size instead of being the max 160 MB never goes beyond 64 med.

Unfortunately for me I think I am having to head toward a complete wipe of the system and an XP reinstall fresh ( PIA with all the IBM drivers I will need to reinstall). I think the registry is a little confused. I deinstalled a lot of software off the system before I began.

im not sure what you problems your having but all i can say is,it is really simple to do,i dont have any trouble,the allocated disc size should be 18.635,dont round it up use that number.perhaps it might be better to do a fresh install of xp and then start again.sorry i cant be of more help

Thanks for the response. I assumed it was simple. I had no problem installing INPA/ EDIABAS.


So basically you have yours installed on the C drive . With the VM guest files in the Myvmware folder.

I have done searches and found another forum where the recommendation was to start out with a clean slate. This person also said there were flaky things happening with his install.

My laptop was fully loaded with a lot of software like oovoo Skype wireless adapters wireless printers etc.

yes mate do a fresh install,you might need more ram though,install vmware then create a new virtual machine,use the settings from here,

Thanks for the info. Once one breaks the code for the install like the Hd space being 18.635 as well as setting the cd to boot first then the install is easy. It's alot easier to do this than to do the F2 key stroke from the vmware screen. Of course you have to remember to set it back to boot Hd 1st.

Once I knew that I did an install on both the T23 and the Dell 600m both have functioning DIS gt1 systems. T23 has the INPA and Ediabas as well.

Now on to cables before I tackle progman.

Also learned not to keep the Unix cursor on the selected item to move it off the selection makes it work better.

Hey David MC, thanks for all the great info on here. Is there a reason why INPA v3 full part 2 in the ncs folder not coming up? It keeps telling me the link isnt found.

The problem seems to be with 4shared, it looks as if the file has been blocked for download other than by the owner.
