    1. How did you learn of BimmerForums.com?
Probably google I would imagine. More then likely after buying the e21 and starting to look around for information on it. Used to spend time on Mazda truck forums and RX-7 forums, so found they were useful then.

    2. Why did you decide to join?
Because trying to search for things is a PITA if you don't have an account! And just cause it's a lot more fun.

    3. Were you an active poster right away or did you "lurk" around and watch for a while?
Can't actually remember. I think probably lurked for a bit while I tried to figure things out.

    4. If you "lurked", Why? Were we forthcoming in our help? Or did you feel perhaps not technically advanced enough to be involved in a conversation?
The latter. These cars are a lot different then everything I had worked on before, and the goal and concentration of the projects was/is a lot different. Not to mention that it's a lot easier to figure things out on your own when you don't have to drive the car to work every day, don't exactly have that luxury any more.

    1. I found this site while surfing the web for info on the power steering hoses on my 7.

    2. I joined because I'm sure I'll have a whole mess of questions to ask once I start putting more money into my car again.

    3. Looked around for a couple of days, then joined up.

How Did I Learn Of Bimmerforums?

    1. How did I learn of Bimmerforums:
The MIKE D and a group of us met up at the Chesapeake House in Maryland on day back in 2000.
Later on we got together with a guy from Roadfly named Terje "Big T" Treff and we morphed into the E38 Beef Club.

    2. Why did I join:
I got to HATE the people running Roadfly - too stifling - too much censorship

    3. Were you an active poster right away or did you "lurk" around and watch for a while?

    Jumped in right away

    4. If you "lurked", Why? Were we forthcoming in our help? Or did you feel perhaps not technically advanced enough to be involved in a conversation?

4A. Why did I stop posting here?
In 2004 I shipped my E38 to Germany and after years of abuse at the hands of various "tuners" and my buddy(?), I fell out of the process.

Fortunately, I met up with Mr. Edwin "The Big E" Rasenberg of the Kingdom of The Netherlands. He was gracious enough to get involved with retrieving my ride and sending her back to the US.

Right now, she is in therapy @ VAC Motorsports and I hope to be conducting classes to the unsuspecting motorheads on the East Coast highways & byways in a few weeks.

Right now I'm rolling in an S550 MB - but soon I'll be able to proclaim, "The Bitch Is Back"

    1) After finding the posts of "you know you are an e38 owner when" and reading them all

    2) Last summer, after needing to post several comments

    3) I started off strong with the posting volume, but work often got in the way.

    1. How did you learn of BimmerForums.com?

Google. Every time I Google something about my car, this forum is near the top or at the top of the results. Which means that it's got a lot of data packed in it.

    2. Why did you decide to join?

Need to talk to car junkies and DIYers like me. Need to see pictures too.

    3. Were you an active poster right away or did you "lurk" around and watch for a while?

Lurked shirked and jerked until I signed up, which was 30minutes ago, now I'm active like a rookie with a red bull buzz on.

    4. If you "lurked", Why? Were we forthcoming in our help? Or did you feel perhaps not technically advanced enough to be involved in a conversation?

I lurked because I couldn't figure out if I registered for this forum or not. I have so many forum memberships I need a roledex to keep em all straight.

If you would be so kind as to reply, I would like to hear from you as OUR goal is to make this the BEST forum.

I would like to extend this to any member less than 6 months old.

My story...... I have had a 98 il for 5 years the first couple of years took it to a thief that has a shop close by. After paying thru the nose i decided i would do the work myself I have been working on cars for many years building street rods and restoring cars as a part time job with my father that has a chrome and powder coating shop. I spent hours on e38.org
for the last year my son as been driving it for school and called my a couple of weeks ago and said it was leaking water "coolant" when I took the trailer down to pick it up I was mortified by the condition that the car was in I think he has been living in it and renting out his dorm room to someone by all the wrapers and clothing in the car.
I have taken it back and want to get it in the condition that it should be in.
    Some of my projects include
    1. replacing the manifold intake gaskets "I have a fuel smell"
    2. front suspension rebuild
    3. new brakes and rotors
    4. drivers seat has rip
    5. pixels in cluster not working
    6. update navigation
    7. heater valve repacemet
    8. A/C compressor
    9. new tires and rims
    10. and of course wash and wax.... needs it bad
Thank you for the help I have recieved and look forward to gaining more knowledge.

    Just 1 E38, for now
Im curious and have a few questions. (Im a curious guy)

    1. How did you learn of BimmerForums.com? GOOGLE!!!! I SEARCHED FOR BMW FORUMS

    2. Why did you decide to join? I WANTED TO LOG IN BECAUSE I FOUND A E32 THAT NEEDED FIXING UP, AND WANTED TO SEE HOW INVOLVED IT COULD BE, AND WANTED TO FIND INFO ON WHAT IT WOULD TAKE.

    3. Were you an active poster right away or did you "lurk" around and watch for a while? PRETTY MUCH ACTIVE. I LURKED MORE ON THE FIRST NIGHT TO SEE HOW MUCH TECH SUPPORT I WAS ABLE TO FIND ON MY VEHICLE, AND I FOUND A MOTHERLOAD OF GREAT INFO SO FAR.

    4. If you "lurked", Why? Were we forthcoming in our help? Or did you feel perhaps not technically advanced enough to be involved in a conversation? MY LURKING WAS BECAUSE I WASNT SURE IF I WAS GONNA GET THE CAR. LIKE ABOVE, I WAS LOOKING FOR TECH ARTICLES AND FOUND A MOTHERLOAD!

    =======================================

im very excited and hope to be driving my bimmer soon as i fix my fuel tank, and then continue to fix it up. support and tech articles on this site have been great for E32 series vehicles. i havent looked in other areas too much because i dont have any other vehicles. E46 i think was the other forum ive posted a question in and got some great tech links, and while it didnt help solve the issue, it at least confirmed that the easy fix was not the issue which in turn helped in not spending money on a fix that wouldnt work.

overall, im very satisfied with this site. i have an 03 crown vic police interceptor and the forum boards for that i will compare to here in terms of knowledge maybe even better in some aspects. i also have an 05 explorer and that forum is utter crap for support. no one on that site seems to know anything...at least for 3rd generation explorers anyway. ive also been a member of a forum for nissans as well years ago and they were great back then too. im no stranger to using different types of forums from cellphones and vehicles for info, buying and selling parts i need and can tell a good one from a bad one, whiny crybaby mentality to a good down to earth common folk mentality etc... and by far this is one of the better ones ive used and im glad i found it. i dont spend a ton of time online unless im looking for something specific or just totally bored.
as this one being the best...well, i dont know. this is the one ive used so far and im sticking with it

    1. How did you learn of BimmerForums.com? Google's a wonderful thing. I was planning on buying a 3-series and ironically ended up buying a 740iL and needed to know support, aftermarket and user, that was out there for these cars.

    2. Why did you decide to join? I wanted to see pics of my potential because i feel like all of these cars can be beautiful.

    3. Were you an active poster right away or did you "lurk" around and watch for a while? Lurker. I read, i knew i didn't know anything about these cars and i wanted to know what i was talking about if someone asked me about my 'new' car instead of those tools (we all know one) that just stand by their car instead of know and drive it.

    4. If you "lurked", Why? Were we forthcoming in our help? Or did you feel perhaps not technically advanced enough to be involved in a conversation? Just didn't know enough to do anything or provide help to anyone else. I also started a radio thread which apparently helped a few other owners also. I was thanked, which on forums other than this one is surprising. I gained alot of help worldwide (shogun!) and was able to fix my issue. Im proud to be a part of a forum thats out to help instead of burn one another. Ill refer anyone to this site that i meet owning a bimmer.

My only issue is for whatever reason, I have difficulties with the search function, but have since learned to work around them. Thats about it though, great site!

If you would be so kind as to reply, I would like to hear from you as OUR goal is to make this the BEST forum.

I would like to extend this to any member less than 6 months old.

I ask these silly questions for a reason. Anybody can google and find BFC and get free information without joining. I want know why you took the extra effort and joined.

    Ill start with my story:
Had a very hard to diagnose electrical problem on my car. I googled for help. Found this site. I liked the format and the way help was presented.
I lurked around a bit, and saw that the people were cool and it seemed like every problem got solved. I started posting to help others. My kinda place. Still here.

I am new to the forum. I usually search the internet for car forums when I buy a new car. I recently bought a 94 740i and I am unfamiliar with these vehicles and came to this forum for knowledge. I began posting right away but did do some reading up first. I also have a friend and asked him what the best bmw forum was and he said this one so there you have it. I think this is a great forum and have already received tons of help.

100,000 hmm... Thats 27 posts a day for 10 years... I think 27 posts a day is a huge waste of my time ( maybe 3 hours at least ).

So you are also saying you have used roughly 25 forums @ 4,000 posts a piece?

Discovered the site during general research into BMW's. I wanted one, but didn't actually have one or prospects of a particular one, thus the reason of most of the lurking. Limited knowledge dealing with cars means that I can't really help out much. I joined because I found many interesting things, and I figured it would be a useful source when I finally did get a bimmer.

    1. How did you learn of BimmerForums.com?
A link from e38.org to a post that fixed a problem I had.

    2. Why did you decide to join?
Liked the activity and the amount of knowledge that was available.

    3. Were you an active poster right away or did you "lurk" around and watch for a while?
I lurked around for a while.

    4. If you "lurked", Why? Were we forthcoming in our help? Or did you feel perhaps not technically advanced enough to be involved in a conversation?
Mainly because I'm new the the 740 and my car seemed to have similar problems to those already posted. (thanks to everyone for the posts...already saved me a fortune!) Although I've worked on cars since I was 15, I didn't have specific knowledge of the 740's.

Thank you for running this forum! The knowledge here is excellent!

    1. How did you learn of BimmerForums.com?
Through various links on e38.org (a.k.a. heaven)

    2. Why did you decide to join?
Why not? Swedish forums suck at answering mroe complex quetions about the e38/e39.

    3. Were you an active poster right away or did you "lurk" around and watch for a while?
I've now "lurked" for about 2 days :P

Posting just to get more posts seems unneccesary, I post when I can contribute, get more info or tease people

    1. How did you learn of BimmerForums.com?
    like most it seems.....Google baby

    2. Why did you decide to join?
don't think I've ever owned a car and didn't join a forum to support my issues with it, whether current or to come.

    3. Were you an active poster right away or did you "lurk" around and watch for a while?
I guess I'm a lurking poster I guess, joined when I had Bimmer #5(94 530i) but didn't really get active until I got the 7 later in '07

    4. If you "lurked", Why? Were we forthcoming in our help? Or did you feel perhaps not technically advanced enough to be involved in a conversation? Lurked originally just to feel out the joint and see what's going on and then didn't do too much internet in general from a horrendously busy schedule. Not tech savvy enough in the 7 to contribute but will share what I know as I learn...

    This IS the BEST forum.

    1. How did you learn of BimmerForums.com? (Answer: links from e38.org led me here)

    2. Why did you decide to join? (Answer: technical support specifically for the e38, as I have owned several BMW's and have always been able to find the tech info I need/want in forums. Learning from others mistakes is much less expensive than needlessly repeating them.)

    3. Were you an active poster right away or did you "lurk" around and watch for a while? (Answer: Posted right away, and found answers/responses were swift and for the most part accurate.)

    4. If you "lurked", Why? Were we forthcoming in our help? Or did you feel perhaps not technically advanced enough to be involved in a conversation? (Answer: No lurking about. That does not serve anyone. The only dumb question is the one not asked.)

    1. How did you learn of BimmerForums.com? I belong to a local Mustang forum here in Cincinnati, OH had posted up some questions about a 740 I was considering and a memeber pointed me here. Said it was a great site with lots of helpful people.

    2. Why did you decide to join? I enjoy being part of an online community with similar interestes and common goals.

    3. Were you an active poster right away or did you "lurk" around and watch for a while? Posted right away.

    4. If you "lurked", Why? Were we forthcoming in our help? Or did you feel perhaps not technically advanced enough to be involved in a conversation? No lurking lol

Still here.

    1. How did you learn of BimmerForums.com? I did a search on the internet for help with a z3 problem

    2. Why did you decide to join? There is awesome information here and it is a great community. I have a 745Li and a Z3 that I constantly have questions/projects on. People on this forum seem to revel in helping solve problems with these cars - especially the z3 forum. The seven series folks don't seem to get quite as deep into it as the z3 guys maybe because the cars are newer/more electronic/bigger pain to work on.

    4. If you "lurked", Why? Were we forthcoming in our help? Or did you feel perhaps not technically advanced enough to be involved in a conversation? I was trying not to ask redundant questions so I was doing a lot of searching. Most of my questions regarded the z3 and since everyone seems to have the same problems with those cars most of the answers were available.

Getting my broken E38 back in a week so I wanted to do some research and found this via googling random questions about the Lucky 7 series .

    2. Why did you decide to join?
Members seemed cool and had answers I needed.

    3. Were you an active poster right away or did you "lurk" around and watch for a while?
