1. When i purchased my E39 M5 in 2008, i asked around and was told of this forum by a friend.
2. i Recently re-joined (lost all old info from 2008) due to the purchase of the E38.
3. not really lurking, just gathering info and asking questions (most were already asked/answered)
4.most answers were posted, the E38 is an old car, most issues have been covered.
Great Forum, very mature, and look forward to my own contributions.

4. If you "lurked", Why?
1. Googling car issues.
2. Finally decided to start contributing to the knowledge base.
3. Lurked until very recently
4. Must've been a lack of self confidence lol
1. Found bimmer forums from a link on the uk 7 series forumOriginally Posted by IcemanBHE

1. How did you learn of BimmerForums.com?
Google search
2. Why did you decide to join?
lack of knowledge and also members here(E38) are much more mature than other forums, much more helpful instead of cat fights or trying to show off their rides (usually happens in 3series forum)lol
3. Were you an active poster right away or did you "lurk" around and watch for a while?
- I try to be an active poster; I guess I'm doing well... But yes, I do watch too (if that make sense, haha...).
1. How did you learn of BimmerForums.com?

3. Were you an active poster right away or did you "lurk" around and watch for a while?
I read for a day or two, then signed up. I will likely lurk for a while - at least until I make a decision on a car.
4. If you "lurked", Why? Were we forthcoming in our help? Or did you feel perhaps not technically advanced enough to be involved in a conversation?
I have nothing worthwhile to contribute...yet.
i actually ,just got a couple month ago a bmw 750il 1989 is my first car other than a volvo v70 wagon family car that i am can't touch coz is just a family car so i bough the car for 500 bucks knowing it was gonna need some money ,the car has a few problems and just look around in google and found this site after a few hours and look around again like the people stories and the peoples efforts to help bmw lovers with the will of fixing the cars without being screw by f dealerships so i really liked the site and hope i can help people too if anybody ever needs it i will help with my experience
so far i learned from this site and done
spark plugs , oil filters , all brakes fixed resistor from dash upper pan gasket , stereo code, and trying to get a pentosin leak fixed .
cheers and thanks everyone
1. How did you learn of BimmerForums.com?
(A1)1 day after I bought my 7 series I hopped online to find a proper forum for support and just so happened to come across this lovely place.
2. Why did you decide to join?
(A2)I've been lurking the threads on and off about 2 months, after wanting to join in on the convos and ask questions I just decided to join.

1. How did you learn of BimmerForums.com?
I was searching around looking for information on the 7 series and stumbled upon the forum.
2. Why did you decide to join?
After reading several posts on the forum I was very impressed with the camaraderie, the willingness to provide information and advice, and the general knowledge of the forum. After I acquired a 740iLP, I knew that I needed a good resource for help and information so I joined immediately
3. Were you an active poster right away or did you "lurk" around and watch for a while?
I lurked around for a while.
4. If you "lurked", Why? Were we forthcoming in our help? Or did you feel perhaps not technically advanced enough to be involved in a conversation?
I lurked around for a bit because I was trying to educate myself on the common issues of the 7 series and to a gain a deeper understanding of BMW maintenance and modifications. I saw that most everyone on the forum was very helpful and understanding of the less educated folks asking questions, which was very refreshing. Also, since I did not have a lot to offer in terms of advice and instruction I did not feel technologically capable to offer much to the conversations. But I am slowly becoming more involved and look forward to offering help where I can when I gain some more knowledge. I am looking forward to contributing to the community.

Wasn't sure if I was going to buy another car just yet, not enough time, etc.
Story: I've dealt with "American" cars and wanted to venture into something more interesting and, well, designed with more elegance. Needless to say I don't like interiors made of cheap plastic or shoddy engineering. I have built up an LS1 Firebird, plenty of DIY on suspension, engine, clutch, electrical, etc etc. It's a hobby.
I just bought a 1997 740i, engine is out of a 99 car. All of the pixels are missing in the OBC display and trans went out last week I am suspecting an electrical problem the way it is behaving but have yet to really look into it as I have no time due to pharmacy school. I'll post a thread on it tomorrow when I get some time to investigate and take pictures.

i made the effort cause now that i own a bimmer, and am now knee deep in the world of the bimmer, i want to chat with people who i can learn things from, make friends and bring my own mix and style to this cool place
