M540i spotted w/ updates "volvo" clears

Was at the local gym and see a M540i (not a poser) in the lot. Saw that it has those new rear clears that were posted on the board not too long ago. Snapped a pic w/ my cameraphone... kinda blurry because as I was taking it the guy unlocked his doors and startled me.

Anyways, pretty nice guy, he also got AE's (the ones that go inside the euro ellipsoids (but not that bright). Rest of the car is stock.. looks NICE :

I kinda like the rear clears, by itself, it looks kinda volvo-ey but on the car, not bad.. when i looked at my car, made my clears look kinda outdated. (Not that I'm going to get them or anything)

yea, not sure how i feel about those. i agree, volvo-ish. there were some on ebay recently for $200, made by in.pro. i think the style looks pretty good on the updated e46 sedan, but i think the e34 lights are too square and it makes them look like volvo tails. guess i gotta see it in person or from different angles too.

Kinda like them, wish you had a better pic. I agree with shragon, they might not be the best choice for this model.

Yeah, the holes for the bulbs are a little too obvious. Too bad they dont make crystal style of regular clears.

Non-poser meant the car I saw was a real M540i and not one a regular 540 with a m-badge stuck next to it

The BMW shown in the image is a United States specification 1995 E34 "540i" with M-Sport package (option code: 0812). The M540i was produced exclusively by BMW Individual for Canada. These are two separate models with distinct differences. The United States specification 540i M-Sport did not have the"M540i" decklid badging. This nomenclature was only found on the Candian M540i. The M badging was added to the example shown.





--All Canadian M540i models have Shadowline/ blacked out bright work. The U.S. only 540i M- Sport retains the chrome window surrounds as shown in the image.

you may be right, but he did have factory m-parallels and that is shadowline trim in the picture. the owner told he it was imported to pennsylvania and he purchased it from that owner

and FWIW, US 540i sport did come with shadowline trim (and had throwing stars)

United States specification 540i M- Sport models did not have Shadowline trim on the models standard equipment list. This picture from the official 1995 5- Series brochure clearly shows the chrome window surrounds.

shadowline trim was available on the 540i m-sport as an option.

since the car is wearing m-parallels and m540i badging, are you sure the car is not canadian spec?

I didnt look at the brake rotors nor did i get a good look at the interior, but based on everything else it looks like a M540i to me. And he did have some AE's in the high beams -> it had euro ellipsoids (yes it had the smiley). The US 540i M sport comes with US lights.
