Alright folks, before I begin, please let me apologize for the lack of information concerning Southeast Sharkfest 2010, which was touted for Savannah, GA. What has transpired over the past several months is both baffling and extraordinarily disappointing.
We are currently dealing with a catastrophic breakdown of our event due to lack of support from the Peachtree Chapter of the BMWCCA. I have no idea why, and I can not get an specific answer out of them to such effect, but they have decided, to not provide us with the insurance (or ANY support for that matter) that we so desperately need. I will be happy to answer any questions within the coming days, about what has transpired and let the chips fall where they may. We are trying to make an emergency contingency but wish us luck... planning and executing an event in just over three months (especially given that I'm in the process of closing on a house), is a feat I wouldn't wish upon anybody.
Sorry for the confusion and lack of information, but we're flabbergasted (for lack of a better word) at the local chapters' decision and trying to decide ourselves how to deal with it. I apologize on behalf of our event, and pray that we have not damaged our own integrity by this last minute (relatively speaking) lack of stability. I'm just incredibly thankful that we had not started taking registrations and putting down deposits, as we normally would have by this point.
I would like to stress that this is not really a failure of the BMWCCA as a whole - generally speaking the CCA National has always been very helpful, and the past chapters we have worked with have been nothing but gentlemen/women and scholars. I am sorely disappointed at how things have turned out and hope that we can salvage things this year.

Kai - my phone is totally out of batteries, so I don't have your # - give me a call.
Why can't the Sharkfest 2010 be part of, or, "piggybacked" on the 2010 Vintage at the Vineyards event?
There's really no reason we CANT, but it would be our third year in Winston-Salem and we're trying to keep from stagnating in one location. Secondly, we had a LOT of complaints about holding it on Memorial Day weekend... and our numbers showed that.
I suppose that's always a fallback - I'm not out of tricks though... stay tuned.

Well... let's not go there. The only reason I really posted this is so that you all know I tried my damnedest to make this happen with Savannah.
I don't know what their reasons are, (they wouldn't tell me)... but let's refrain from a flame war. I have some tricks left up my sleeve, let's see what happens.

I certainly wish you well in your efforts. I've never been to one of these and have only had my shark for about a week, but I would love to attend one.

Bummer.
I hope there is a seaside location in mind. Still hoping for an east coast beach trip...
Whatever you come up with I'm sure it will be great.
I make cool things for your car.

I also drive italian cars, or own broken ones anyway.
Kai, I'm here (as well as others') to help, flying down to scout locations, bringing some of the boys down from Federal Hill in Providence to have a gentleman's talk with the Georgians, whatever it takes.
And, regardless of outcome, know that we are there behind you 100%. Let us know what you need!
Looks like this year I'll have a running 6 that could make it to SESF easily (Gertrude), but the problem will be getting the time off work... I'll make it eventually...

Piggyback BMWCCA Octoberfest at Road America in August? 5erFest will be held there. Would be awesome to have all three events during the same week.
