Guys and Gals,
my bestseller for E34 and E32 is still the interior light dimmer module. So far it is installed in E32, E34 and Ferrari F430. installation instructions from the German 7-forum with pics http://www.7-forum.com/forum/24/dimm...ung-82846.html
One unit installed behind the front interior light works on all interior lights, on normal lights and also LEDs. There is a switch inside the module where you can select your preferences:
AUS/OFF = LED
EIN/ON = Glühlampen (Serienlampen) serial bulbs
Schalter/switch 2: Einschaltverzögerung/ switch on delay dimmer
AUS/OFF = 0,5 sec.
EIN / ON = 2,0 sec.
Schalter/switch 3 Schalter/switch 4 Ausschaltverzögerung/switch off delay time
AUS/OFF AUS/OFF 2 sec.
AUS/OFF EIN/ON 4 sec.
EIN/ON AUS/ON 6 sec.
EIN/ON EIN/ON 8 sec.
All controlled by a program.

The secret of the complete module is a programmed chip, especially made.

Shogun tricks and tips for the E32 series are HERE!
Hi Shogun,
I'm thinking of adding LEDs around the car (inside), like at the door panels and footwells. I think I might feed the LEDs off of this apparatus. What do you think, and what kind of LEDs should I go for ? (amps, etc.) I'd be more than happy to modify the shipped circuit as required since I'm pretty handy with an iron. Plus it's a lot of fun!

our unit has in sleeping mode a consumption of only 1 mA (0,001 A)!
But calculate all the consumers connected to the unit, the interior light with (maybe) reading lights in rear, door lights for example like in E32 etc. consume quite a bit. Plus the stuff you want to add, and that is up to you to the max A as shown below.
We have layed out the unit quite generous, and that is the difference to what one might be able to buy from other sources, but there is of course a limit.
this unit can control in total up to 200W lamps, because we made digital software for this special IC.
they are including
1) complete unit(ready made)
2) connector for interior lamp cable set
3) cable color information and setting infomation are linked online above.

That installed with NO PROBLEMS
I have installed LED's for all my interior lights (Blueish-White for entry/exit and slightly warmer yellowish-white for map). They are bright. Really bright. So instant on and off was overly harsh.
Shogun's dimmer kit was easy to setup and took about 15 minutes to install. Most of that time was using Google Translate on the install page and re-re-reading the result. I'll write up the same instructions in English. Sadly it was all so fast that I only snapped two pics.
All the install bits come in the kit. Pliers, wire tool and a pry tool (I prefer the plastic kind vs a screw driver) are all that's needed. Soldering is optional but not needed. The kit is complete.
Top notch. And the results are outstanding. My fiancee described the improvement as more elegant and graceful.
This may not top many lists of import "fixes" but its a tremendous aesthetic upgrade.

The dimming happens in my moms X3. Always wanted it for my car. I might have to bite once I get some more money for parts.
wow ...great little product
Fantastic! I'm really looking forward to it!
I am flabergasted at how fast this has been delivered. Thank you!
So by connecting this into the front dome light, this will control dimming with all lights in the interior? rear map lights included?

I've attached a pdf file with a diagram with instructions I made from IT Jedi's translation for installation. It was a fun project and easy to install.
Can also be downloaded from :

Enjoy !

thanks a lot for this very nice installation instruction.
and here copied from Ferrari Chat forum, as they also now use my dimmer in their Ferrari F430:
I tested many dimmers and studied several electronic schematics. None of them where satisfying enough to be implemented in a Ferrari and especially behind the M032 ECU. Dirtly electronic modules would seriously mess up this ECU! My specs were quite severe: I wanted it programmable and configurable, ground based control (I initialy thought that we would need a +12V based control), almost no power consumption in standby mode, limited heat at the heat sink and a PWM based control (Pulse Width Modulation).
On a good day, I discovered on a BMW forum a guy from Japan who is making what seemed to be the perfect dimmer.
I got in contact with him and after many email exchanges and studying his schematics, I got convinced that we have here the right product. His module is entirely programmed using a PIC12F629, just perfect! The MOS FET used is a 2SK3140 using a 4V gate and is attached to a small heat sink.
Here a the characteristics of this dimmer module :
- Support of normal bulbs or additional LED’s
- Maximum control of 200W (15A)
- Standby current drain of 1mA
- A noise signal is applied to prevent line noise from generating false-starts or miss-functioning
- Uses a digital IC (PIC12F629) to realize control by PWM adjustment
The dimmer module has 4 wires
- white : OUT ground to the dome light and LEDs
- yellow : IN delayed ground from the M032 ECU
- red : +12V HOT (module power)
- black : ground (module power)
The dimmer module can be configured using DIL switches :
- SW1 OFF : LED + normal bulbs
- SW1 ON : normal bulbs
- SW2 OFF : Fade In time of 0.5 secs
- SW2 ON : Fade In time of 2 secs
- SW3 OFF – SW4 OFF : Fade out time of 2 secs
- SW3 ON – SW4 OFF : Fade out time of 4 secs
- SW3 OFF – SW4 ON : Fade out time of 6 secs
- SW3 ON – SW4 ON : Fade out time of 8 secs

Howdy Shogun,
Have any of those dimmers for a E32 740i just laying around?,
if so, box one of those critters up & send it to the Republic of Texas.
PM me with any details. arigatou gozaimasu
Dear Shogun,
I would very much like to have one of your dimmer modules. Please pmail me tell how to complete the transaction.
Thank you,
Just got around to installing Shogun's mod in my E32, in two words..........
Thanks Shogun.
