I'm in the middle of a conversation with my dad comparing the initial retail pricing of some of our favourite modern classics, and I came across this thread during a search. It's definitely worth a bump.

Now that you've bumped this old thread, I'm wondering what 15" wheels mr. nadodude was running. Was there a stock 15" wheel option in the US? And who would go from 15" baskets (or euros) to 14" baskets? Maybe a dealer option? Hmmm...

There were 2 basic 15" styles: cross-spokes (basketweaves) and star-spoke. They are styling 10 on this page http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/

The depreciation for these cars after 20+ years is ridiculous, now they're so affordable.

It's hard to believe my lapis blue 318i 2 door would cost 36k today... Damn!

My first BMW I bought new was a 1990 325i from Autohaus in Cohasset, MA. The MSRP was $24650 plus a little extra for metallic paint (Delphin Gray). It was a 2 door coupe with no options. The rear windows did not open.
I eventually traded it for a MBZ 400E which I hated. Fast forward to 2017 and I bought a 1990 325i in Calypsorot, a 2 door coupe. I have had a lot of fun restoring it.

My 87 325i convertible sold for $45000. plus taxes including the hardtop. Fully loaded with all the Canadian winter necessities. Heated seats, heated rear window on hardtop, air, cruise, sport seats, Cd player, leather, fog lamps, basket weaves.
Now just showing 214000 original km, still runs like a dream and still completely stock with just replacement of shocks, brakes, and exhaust. A one owner jewel...

Looking at the above MSRP's and inflation factors, I conclude that we are driving bargains even at today's market prices.
