black 740i vs. black 525-High Speed Encounter

This is my first real encounter in the 7, the
    Stealth Bomber.

So my girlfriend and I are coming home to PA from NY. Actually, my cat was also upfront at my girlfriends feet, chilling in the footwell. The cat had quieted down after a few hours of driving.

"I better take it easy, that's the 8th cop I've seen and it's the end of the Month." Well, it just so happened that a nice older 5 series was coming up aggresively. I made sure to keep in front. We fool around between 80 and 100 on Route 1 South, but it's only 2 lanes with a bit of traffic. Our next exit is the PA turnpike- 3 big lanes. Then we'll have a go...

I drive through the toll with EZ Pass and get on the highway, doing only 60 so he could catch up. Sure enough I see the black 5er weaving aggresively through the traffic and reeling me in fast. He has a huge speed advantage and I didnt want him to blow by me, so I downshift into 4th and floor it. We accelerate out of an easy right bend at 100mph. He's right behind me- I timed it perfectly. From there its all V8 power. We were in the left lane of a huge 3 lane straightaway with very few cars. F-it, I thought, I never get a chance like this! 110 WOT, 120 WOT, "slow down! Somebody could get in the way" My gf was grabbing my right wrist. Damn, i was just trying to concentrate on the clear road ahead- and I have this nagging navigator! Up to 130 and I had walked away from the 5er with more room before an easy left bend, but her nails were digging into my arm. I coasted back down to only double the speed limit and moved right.

The suave foreign-looking guy, in his 30's, pulled up, acknowledged with a smile and a nod, and drove off.

All in all, I was very pleased with the quietness and stability of the 740i, unlike my Miata at the same speed which would be near its gear limited top speed.

Just wanted to represent for the E38s!

    do the 525 look stock?

at 100mph+, the V8 do come in handy!

yeah, I would kill the person next to me if the hand went on my side while I am driving... very very dangerous

    NONE.

there are, however, 735i and 740i european models available (IIRC)

Rob Levinson and Simeon Mackrides (sp?) have the only two 6-speed E38s in the states to my knowledge.

Simeon has a blown, built, bored, ported, cammed 740iL, and Rob has a mostly-stock-motored 750iL. the 750 uses an 850Ci transmission, and the 740 uses the basic 540/840/M5/euro box.
