    This was very helpful. My 89, 635csi only had the top speed available. Rebuilt the controller and now have two speeds. Wondering if the controller on the dash needs to be replaced to get a true variable speed fan? Curious if these are available? The hunt continues.

    On older BMWs with a/c, you can run the a/c at the same time as the heater, because their a/c systems have separate controls! Cars like this are e3 sedans, e9 coupes, e21 3 series and pre 1977 5 series. You can have warm, dry air with these cars!
