Help with front door speakers in an E90

I'm planning to replace the front door speakers in my '06 E90. It doesn't have the Logic 7 system so it has 4" components. I was just told that the mids have a very unique mounting system. Can these components be replaced with a standard 4" system? Do you top mont these onto the door panel? Can we fit a 5.25? Thanks for the help guys!

There are few speakers that will fit the location (size and depthwise).

I have an E92 and have the Hybrid L4's mounted in the door panel along with the L1 tweeters. They are incredible and require no cutting or drilling, but they have to be surface mounted to fit on the E92. The E90 has a little bit more room, but not much at all.

You can also go with a very thin speaker. Zapco makes a very thin 6.5" that will fit depthwise and I have been dying to try.

Please let me know if you are interested and your budget and I will be glad to point you in the right direction.

The E90 requires a speaker with about 50-55mm of depth.

    The Hertz HSk100
    MB Quart RUA 210
Morel Dotech and Hybrid Ovation 4
    Focal whatever
    HAT 4
and some others will all fit.

    Adapters are required.
