Anyone try the Conti Runflats Yet?

    Hi everyone,

Wanted to see if anyone has experience with the Continental run-flats as replacement tires for their e-90 series cars.

I've got a year left on my lease and the Contis are less expensive than the OEM Bridgestones, so thinking about them as a replacement option. (Keeping in mind that the Contis will probably not be as good in terms of ultimate grip, but I don't care).

    Any thoughts on this?

    TIA!

    Bill

I read good things about them. I have the Conti snow RFTs and I like them a lot. In the past I've also had good experience with Continental snow tires, but never used their summer performance ones, pretty much used Michelins almost exclusively. Go to the tirerack.com and read reviews there.

I sell a ton of the conti runflats...I think they are much better than the bridgestones...then add the savings in and to ME it's a no brainer.

There aren't large gaps between the tread blocks on the shoulders of the tire...therefore they're less prone to cupping and causing road noise. Doesn't mean they won't...especially if you don't maintain proper air pressure...but simply based upon their tread pattern they're less likely to.

How do the run flats work? Is there some sort of messy sealant in the tire or something?

Nope, just reinforced sidewalls that keep their shape and withstand higher heat when totally deflated so that you can drive for 100 miles or so at 50 mph.

These came with my 2016 435i Coupe; 26k miles on them with another 3-5k to go. No issues at all; I don't find them to be noisy or a rough ride.

A lot of the BMW's do come with the Conti's as OE tires. In testing them there is not a big difference in ride quality between the OE tires from Bridgestone, Pirelli and Conti. Handling can be different depending on which tire you have on now and which Conti you choose. If I can help let me know.
