    Seat Twist Repair $$$$$$$

Once again, another note of thanks to this forum.

When I bought my 540i a month ago, The guy selling it took into
consideration the expense of repairing the "twisted seats" when
we were negotiating price. We agreed that it was approximately a
$1000 fix for both front seats. I finally took the plunge and did the
driver's seat yesterday. All four cables were fixed in about 3 hours and
everything is as good as new!!!

When i bought the car, there was a lot of little things wrong with it that
brought the price down significantly and i have been able to do about
$2500 of repairs for about $150 of parts and tools.

More to do...but it's been fun!!!!

    Thanks again!!!

the drive cables for the reclining/power seats become disengaged from the motor.
so, when you adust your seat, only one side moves. Thus, "twisted seats"

    PITA!!! hmmmph

More thanks to the forum. I fixed my seat twisting a bit ago using the E34 DIY post. Saved a bunch of dough. Still have to do the passenger seat. No rush on that.

I did mine a few months ago... next time I have to do it, I'm taking the whole seat out of the car to make my life easier...

I didn't disconnect my battery so now I have to pay to get the airbag light turned off. That sucks.
