I know the subject of coolant can send some into major tailspins lol. I notice that the E46's use a blue coolant from the factory (very similar to my girl's Honda, looks like washer fluid!). If I am swapping in an LS, is it OK to continue using the BMW coolant if the engine has been freshened up with no traces of Dexcool (or what ever it was running in its former life)?
Use Dex.
make sure your radiator pressure cap has the same max pressure as your engine's cooling system was designed for.
No issues with the BMW heater core and stock radiator by doing so?
I'd think I would relate the coolant to the spinning things...waterpump, etc...so engine connected rather than just coolers. I've switched colors on a VW and quickly lost the electric 'after-run' pump on a VR6.
I use Dexcool in mine with correctly rated pressure cap.

i run ~75/25 water/green with a half a bottle of water wetter.
i'd run straight water with water wetter, but i'm not sure i will be able to not drive it when the weather gets cold.
always trying to make it lighter and faster
