    The do-it auto ADS interface should work with an e34 and DIS v44 - make sure you have the IFHSrv started and any antivirus/firewall programs disabled, that Ediabas.ini is correctly configured with Interface = ADS and that the inteface is set to the correct (ADS) mode. Still working on a version of INPA that will work with all variants of the E34.

    David, i went searching the forum months ago, i have 2 kind of hardware, for my e34, the first time i tried, i mess something installing GT1, now i have all theoretically working well.

    Today i tried, and carsoft gives hardware error cant from com it says maybe it doesnt have permission, inpa gives an error related to ecu file 002, I started IFHSrv and went indo dis, and error again it went red stop responding also stopped responding the IFHSrv service.

    I have a dell d620, maybe thats the problem since i have read some sort of difficulty in handling the com on dell laptops.

    I think maybe i should put efforts in carsoft and solve the com error, but i cant see what im missing, maybe some setting like xon off/on... etc...

    Honestly i have my e34, one year and have done only 4000 miles, i have to fix it i need the program working, and im getting very disappointing with me and the car ...

    If you could give me any ideas i will appreciate, because i dont want to spend another night trying to see where could i be wrong.

    thank you very much for your effort to write in details how to setup INPA with carsoft cables. I have it sucessfully connected and running.

    with the help of INPA, i had sucessfuly put the RDC module (tire pressure monitoring) in sleep mode.
    hopefully the yellow tire pressure light on dashboard will not lights up again. (the wheel sensor has the battery run out)

    Cant understand witch interface is, but you have to use the search option, and see how to install carsoft and connect to your car... its a long post, so read it and then post the results, because in the picture of the link its a carsoft image of the software.

    Be aware that depending on what you want to do and depending your car some times its best to read the forum to see witch is your best option to buy. Or get an advice based on the information you give to us.

    Could someone please tell me what is the latest version of INPA known to work? I downloaded 2010, and it some what works on my e60, but not on my e39.

    INPA with Carsoft cable

    I can only read the DME with INPA. The other modules respond with IFH-0009: NO RESPONSE FROM CONTROLUNIT.

    Is there a modification to the cable?

    No, if you can read the dme with Inpa, thats what you get, like it was told in previous posts, some earlier cars just cant work with all the modules in Inpa, now that you have inpa working, its tim you go to the dis installation, and see what you get from there...

    I am running INPA on a 2002 530i and 2007 550i, and get pretty much the same results.

    Please Help

    I finally have carsoft and INPA installed and working. Yay!

    Today, I installed vmware, DIS, and GT1v44. I followed Ramdomy's intructions. The VM machine is configured and will run DIS, however, it won't pass the API test. I get the timeout error.

    I can't ping 198.168.68.0 from windows run. I have read through this thread, and I can't figure out what's wrong.

    Could you please help me?

    or should i buy a new one usb which can can-bus? or com-port cable with can-bus?

    PS: if i try to coding anything by my e36 323 i become an error calles unknown_statusbyte. my tacho is from an outher car, so the vin is incorrect. can i change it by using dis?

    Randomy - Awesome right-up. I've been looking into EDIABAS/INPA for coding issues I've been having recently. My current DIS version has no coding, as it has all been switched to Progman. I'm currently running version 39. Anyway, I have downloaded all the files you shared in the first link. But like many others, I am no IT wiz, just an auto diagnostician. So I have NO CLUE what to do with the files I've downloaded or where to even start. Point me in the right direction brother...Thanks for sharing

    BMW software will not code used clusters in my experience. I use DIS V57 and SSS V39. Ive never had any luck coding used clusters. You apparently need this INPA setup. NCS or even Autologic. I'm currently looking into these myself

    I recall getting this same message, but don't recall exactly what the correction was & I'm not at home either to look through my notes to tell you. But I know I read the solution by searching within this thread. for example, have either of you looked at posts #184 thru 186 on here?     Why my dis dosn't work???

    Carsoft works, inpa dosn't show ignition and battery and it dosn't work.Dis run api test succesful, but in diagnos it says: control unit selected not been found!

    I use carsoft 6.14 cable an car is e34 m5 1989

    BMW only began to phase in diagnostic capabilities from about 1990 on, so I would say that there are no data files in INPA for your car. Since DIS uses the version of EDIABAS loaded with INPA, no INPA often = no DIS.

    Try diagnosing a later vehicle to test your setup.

    inpa works on my friend bmw 540ia 1997. So DIS dont work for my car?

    I tried my sister e36 328 1997 and it worked on dis except abs, didnt found and abs light is on at instrument cluster.

    But so also did carsoft and inpa.

    Sorry bad english...

    DIS doesn't work either on my friends bmw 850i 1991

    Ive seemed to have done something wrong.... Loaded the easydis base and v44 successfully, as per instructions. Now I have set the VM ware network address to the instructions, then went and made the adjusments in the scoadmin page... first the vi EDIABAS.ini doesnt show anything besides :

    all the way down..? thats the 1st problem...

    after :q! , I can go to vi hosts and made the required changes as per instruction, :wq and saved... went back and view the changes, init 6 and rebooted. The system rebooted like normal, I get the port mappter 192.168.68.30 not responding and then the screen goes black. I can hit CTRL and SysRQ and get the log in to the scoadmin but the instructions dont say anything abou this... did i FUBAR the system and need to start over? what do i do from there?

    I wanted to ask you about the installation of Dis.I followed the instructions to run INPA>it worked 100%,then I continued to make DIS run.But I have problem.When I make the steps of installation everything is ok until the moment when I have to run APi test>it gives me this"Fehler bei Api-Initilisierung Fehlertext:Net-0009 Timeout".Does anybody know what's the problem ?

    Try vi ediabas.ini UNIX is case-sensitive.

    Do the experts here concur with these additional requirement? It's easy enough to modify them using FT_Prog. I just don't want to break anything on the car side of the interface.

    My cable came with the following settings for I/O control:
    #C0 = TXLED#
    #C1 = RXLED#
    #C2 = TXDEN
    #C3 = PWRON#
    #C4 = SLEEP#

    Also, is there a picture or drawing that shows the pins on the OBD connector so that I know which are pins 7 & 8. My guess is that, looking into the connector face (pins pointed at you with the wider part up), PIN 7 and 8 are on the upper left side (based on the label on my connector). Is this correct?



    Here are some other photos of the inside of the connector shell including a close-up of the FT232RL chip.
