Nice car! A perfect sleeper.
Are you just looking to make more work for yourself?
No offense, but it seems kinda pointless, no?
If you want a sleeper and you don't like black, transfer the badges, pulls the m3 panels, and paint it silver.

how about having one of each?? ls2 powered M and a 4 door e36!
get this rear bumper and you'll have a mini m5
I don't understand the need for a 4 door in this scenario?
I should come out with no out of pocket costs for this swap - your plan would cost several thousand dollars and won't transform my car into a 4 door
The whole car isn't needed, but I often carry passengers so a 4 door will be more practical plus that's what I like - don't question a man's hot rod

I am
Any accidents? I expect its got typical rock chips right?
Glad to see you are still keeping with BMW! Build thread with pics and details is required.
The front left fender is not original, but that was way before my time. Typical rock chips, etc. It is decent shape. PM me if you are interested - I can sell it as a roller with/without interior or as only a shell, etc.

I'd give my left ball for a LS2 swap for my e36, any interest?
So whats gonna be left of the M3? The body and most of the interior? Are you taking all the suspension pieces too?
Hmmm, you know, it would really be interesting to see if the swap kit would fit an E46.
And +1 on the four doors, Call me crazy but I personally think that most of the 4-door bimmers look better than their 2 door counterparts. It seems like they design them to have 4, and then delete 2.
The body and most of the interior. I am using all of the M3 suspension pieces so the M3 will end up with the 325i parts to make it a rolling chassis.

Rao, Nice choice to go with the 4 door. For those of us that have more than 1 friend the 4 door is great.
Do you still have the s50/2? You could always put that back in the M.
sweet. We kinda did the same thing...finished our swap, found a better shell and moved everything to a better car. My brother ended up with that one...nice silver M3 coupe with alot of suspension work and goodies. I've been toying with the idea of using a 4-door myself, instead of my avus coupe. although it does go smoother the 2nd (or 3rd) time, I dont think I want to cause any more work for myself....

You could just buy an M3 Sedan, swap the motors, and save a whole lot of time. And it seems like you'd come out of it with more money. Once you pilfer this car or all it's M parts, the only thing M3 about it will be the Vin, and maybe the bumpers (if you leave em).
Don't know about up there, but there are a good bit of M3 sedans in the Atlanta Area. Just look on Craigslist Atlanta. (And on the rare occasion we get snow, they use sand in lieu of salt).
Thanks - should I leave the new differential, half shafts, control arms, bushings (all of them), shocks, brake calipers, rotors, bearings, brake lines and powder coated cross members on my current car or swap those parts over as well? The suspension swap should take a leisurely half day.

It would be hilarious, if ALL of the M3 running gear, suspension and differential went on the 325i, and vice versa, then just sold the M3 as a roller (except it would have non-M parts),... could probably get away with it using the M wheels,....except for this post. It's going to sit funny anway without the engine/trans.
