you're such a useless poster Dane....
Never heard of the Double Din?

Chillaxxx bro, I was kidding with you!
OP, I think the a/c ducts have to be slightly modified to change places as Dane said.
Ahh mannn, now I feel bad...
He's not talking about moving ducts. He's asking about moving the control panel that displays the temp and buttons to control it. And yes it can be done, since they came in that position from the factory if you had the BMW Navigation system. Not sure on the steps of retrofitting it but it's been done.
Read this it look's like a lot of work

Never said he had to move ducts, just modify the one behind that panel. I know what he wants to do, I helped install a Pioneer Nav system in a friends car from e46fanatics and we had to modify it a little. I wired in all the traffic update wires, XM radio antenna and wire in the steering wheel controls.
Thanks a lot..this makes it much clear..but the only problem now is that is way much harder than i thought i would be..it takes more knowledge and practice than i have to pull this off that good..i guess i should leave it to the pro's and just take it a shop...at least it makes me feel better knowing that they will work for their money to put that thing in there cus it doesn't look easy at all..but thanks again..the finish project looks sick!!!
yeah it's not easy and very time consuming to do it right.
I know that this is a pretty old thread but there is a very interesting video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9Eg7ZXez0c that makes things much simpler than we thought it would be ;-)
