What is up with DDM Tuning's customer service?

My 55w slim ballast went out, and I needed to be able to see so I called them for a warranty replacement and it turns out you need to go through a lengthy RMA process that would be something like a 2 week turnaround. Well, I needed night visibility NOW so I 2nd Day Air'd an entire new Ballast + Bulb kit for $80, and dropped over $30 on shipping to guarantee it'd get to me at a reasonable date.

I ordered Monday, and it's Friday. I sent an email to them and they ignored it (this is the 3rd email they have completely ignored). I'm not looking to pester them, but I am very curious to know why it's Friday and UPS says they haven't received the package for shipping yet.

I'm about ready to pay twice the price for a vendor that can handle shipping out a tiny box the same day of ordering, or at the very last a vendor who can maintain a line of communication regarding something I paid money for.

At one point I was excited about HID-ing my car, but after all these horror stories it seems like it will be much less of a pain in my ass to simply not bother with DDM :\

DDM is a horrible vendor and it seems they're getting worse by the day. I'd demand a refund and buy from someone else and never look back.

This is valuable info for viewers to see critical information on their aspect of business; they won't be in business much longer with service like this.

The sad part is that after seeing Jim's posts regarding why he prices so low I was pretty proud to support him after a few purchases. I've made several since then and it's been blunder after blunder. I don't know whose job it is to make sure a package gets on a truck at the end of the day but apparently hiring Bimmerforums kids to do it isn't cutting it. Obviously, correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the impression DDM is giving off with such incidents as this.

Officially, my last purchase there. Warranty or not, I'm done. I'd never see a refund I'm sure, so I will press for my package to get shipped. In the meantime, I can't leave my house past 7pm thanks to these guys. Imagine how productive I've been over the past week?

its a simple case of crappy products catching up to a crappy outfit.
they came in gungho and hired forum hit squad to discredit good vendors only to find out the forum kids cant handle their own business and mask the garbage they sell.

All RMA's go through the same process. Once they are shipped here they take about 3 days to process, then will ship out via ground unless you would like to expedite the shipping. We always recommend keeping your halogen bulbs in the event of a warranty claim. H1 kits were on back order till later today when they arrive, and your order is likely in that list. If you shoot me the details on the order I can give you a more precise answer

The thing is, he bought a brand new set rather than go through the RMA process. With that brand new set he paid a MUCH larger shipping fee but yet I guess they were out of stock and he wasn't notified. Got to be honest, that is pretty lousy.

In my post I stated that I didn't have time to go through an RMA process, so I made a new order and paid a premium for 2nd Day Air. There was no notice of anything being out of stock, so if something is out of stock, it is your [DDM's] duty to make sure the customer knows it's not going to ship for a week. I would have taken my business elsewhere as I don't even have a pair of Halogens to put in there.

Basically, you guys dropped the ball big time by ignoring my email, failing to notify me of an out of stock part, and then avoided discussing it.

    Mmm
that's pretty lousy service. when i ran an ecommerce site, all 3day select, 2nd day air, and overnight orders were given extra attention. Stock was checked immediately and those orders were processed ASAP. If the item were out of stock, I would email the customer the same day to inform them of the delay. Most times, they cancelled the order and would order elsewhere.

And this is while i was working for one of the most crooked online businesses.

I got them, but they haven't responded to my email regarding a partial refund on the exorbitant prices I paid on shipping when they knew it wouldn't be going anywhere.

I was going to order the M5 front bumper from them, but now I'm not certain I want to.

Anyone suggest alternate vendors for an aftermarket front bumper for a 99 528i? Doesn't have to be M5, either.

I hate to be the one taking away someones business. But my order with EuroDyne was a success story. Ordered, and got the bumper by the end of the week.

And when it comes to HIDs, knowing all these high failure rates on after market units. I always try and spend the extra money on a used OEM ballast.

I never got to work with DDM, but when i accidentally broke one of my HID bulbs, i called eurodyne and asked if they could do anything about it and admitting it was my fault that the bulb broke anyways. They transfered me to Jo who took cared of my situation with no hesitation.

If you aren't comfortable making your purchase with DDM, I too would suggest Eurodyne.

I am sure DDM wouldn't mind one bit. Its your money, you should be both comfortable and happy with your purchase.
