So now I have coding/programming working also, it was straight of the bat once I selected Fister as profile with vm off.

Perhaps this should be emphasized more in the READ THIS FIRST guide that this is the settings not only for ADS interface but also for a serial BMW modified KL interface like the EBAY do-it-auto INPA interface.

    Thanks Katvis for the tip.

Do you have the wire schematic for powering on the E31's On Board Computer?

    VMWare 6.0

    Hi guys

Does anyone have a good link to download VMWare 6.0? I want to use this version as used in the how to install DIS/GT1 and follow it exactly as outlined.

    Thanks in advance

    DIS/GT1 installation question

    hello Randomy:

I am working on getting my DIS/GT1 up and running and am using your step by step instructions. I wanted to ask you, when you get ready to power up the vmware GT1, it was so fast that i saw it installed the DIS software on the computer screen and other things just passed by too fast to read. In this case, do i need to start all over again from the start? After this, i was able to get into the BIOS practicing a few times by pressing ctrl+ alt+ delete and then i would depress F2 and get into the bios. Your instructions say that the computder should reboot and then the installation of the DIS begins, but mine did not do that. I also encountered problems with modifying the "other vmware configuration file" as DavidMc's instructions say as it would not let me access my virtual GT1 file and thus removing it and reinstating the file to its original state enabled me to be able to access. What should i do?

    Thanks,
    Mark

    DIS/GT1 installation question

Thanks David for the VMware pointers and i fixed the issue i had with the line that had to be added to the configuration file of the vmware. I managed to get through the DIS installation, but at the end of the installation i get the following message:

"THE DIS Installation has been completed with faults. Fault code 250" I used the GT1 file i had on my computers hard disk. I did make a copy on DVD. I make mention of it just in case it may have to do anything with this. Where do i go from here? Try going back to daemon tools, and mounting the GT1 file from DVD?

I went ahead and powered off the virtual machine and restarted it. System loads and shows the white dotted dislpay (llooks like a roof of a house) and say : The system is coming up please wait. It loads the DIS screen (front end picture of a BMW) and i decided to select installing the software again to see what happens. UPDATE: The second installation of the GT1 files ended up the same, with the same 250 fault code.

    Thanks,
    Mark

The DIS base program has not loaded correctly or has not fully loaded, you need to reinstall DIS from the CD.

It is asking you to login to the root system, there is a problem with your DIS Base installation that is causing it to fail to boot. If you have not saved a snapshot of your system, re-mount the DIS Base installation disk in your CD drive and re-start the virtual machine to re-install the base program.

So you were able to get this up and running on a Windows 7 64bit machine? This is what I have as well and just want to make sure it's possible before I buy the cables and put in the time. And you're using the Carsoft cables, right?

    Yep. Carsoft cables & CS6.2 under WIN7
INPA under WIN7 (But both run in XPSP2 Compatability mode)
DIS under VMWARE on WIN7 shell.

Works OK but make sure you follow the instructions within this thread.

Tkes a couple of times before INPA will connect but once it does it is quite bulletproof.

Gave up under WINXP mode (glad i did!)

    Hi All,

First post here, but i'm a regular on M5Board, and i'm in desperate need of some help.

I have the problem that i'm trying to install Easy DIS to a netbook, i.e. a laptop without an optical drive, and this is causing all sorts of problems. Windows XP BTW.

I'm using VMWare 6.5 too, but this doesn't appear to be a problem, and i seem to have been able to make all the setups as per the guide using it.

My problem comes with the install of the base program.

I have tried numerous methods to mount the .nrg (and i've tried a convertion to .iso too) as a physical drive, then set vmware to use the physical drive as the cd, and then 'boot from cd' in vmware. This includes magiciso, deamontools, and xp's own version.

Once i start the vmware, i simply get the message that i do not have an optical drive, and the vmware goes black screen.

I thought i had cracked it with 'MagicDisc' which is a virtual cd drive, installed this, mounted the base iso on the virtual cd drive, selected this virtual cd drive as a physical drive in vmware, started the workstation, cd as first boot device with no errors, and then just a black screen, and it trys to attempt to boot from network.

I really have no ideas now, and i desperately hope someone can help

    Thanks

I have been able to do this on a laptop without using the optical drive, but I used daemontools to mount the NRG files instead of magicdisc.

Oh I tried it with Daemontools first as per the guide, and then tried the other programs afterwards when it didn't work

Anyone any ideas on what i could try next? Or what the problem might be?

    Thanks

That is kind of strange as i also use Daemontools and worked perfectly.

Did you enable the virtual drive? once you mount the iso, do you see it in your my computer folder? or you can select the iso file on this screen

    need serial# for vmware

    Hey guys,
I'm having problems getting the keygen to work on vmware. It asks for encryption password. Please help.

    Thanks

I've got everything working, now if you guys could tell me which cables I need. I have a serial cable that will plug in to an OBD2. Will that work?

Guys, thanks for all your help!

I believe i have fixed my issue, although the car is in the body shop so i can't go out and test the connection just yet.

    Here's what i did..........

First of all, i redownloaded the trial of Daemontoolspro, and i also got hold of Version 6 of VMware for simplicity.

I then install it all on my desktop, to check the files weren't corrupt, and it all installed fine, as expected (Vista)

So, i then turned to the netbook (XP), and install daemontools first.

I noticed no virtual drive avalible on loading the software, so i tried to add one, and got a "Daemon tools pro error -1", which is a driver problem.

So i followed THIS websites guide to correct the driver problem, i actually did it twice, once to remove the driver, and once to reinstall, and this allowed me to create a SCSI virtual drive in daemontools, and mount the BASE.nrg file.

So then it was over to VWware, and following the guide, the install went as described.

    Massive thanks to all!

    Matt
