    Booting VM to BIOS

I haven't seen this mentioned yet but if you go to the menu on the VMWare, "VM", goto "Power" and then you can power on the machine into the BIOS without trying to hit f2 so quickly.

    Hi all,

Is it possible to diagnose air suspension with this Easy-DIS?

Bear in mind that the root directory is written in UNIX so it is case and space-sensitive. The password you use to access the directory the very first time is the one you must use to access it on subsequent visits.

I don't know of a back door to configure your system other than via this directory, but there is a way to reset your password if need be.

Yes how do you do the password reset but I think I might be at the same position again at the login screen it wont let me type any letters in the space at all I never did put in a password to begin with.

It lets you type the letters all right - it just doesn't show the letters or move the cursor, so if you chose the appropriate option and typed a password originally, then hit [ENTER], then that is the password that has been set.

OK it's late and I did not read all 29 pages of replies to see if someone else has this issue,

Win XP, Dell D610. Everything is unerstandable on the instructions on page 1, but when I go to the BIOS and set CD-Rom as the primary boot device, and save, the VM machine does not look at it, it goes to the three networks instead and finds nothing. I am using Daemon Lite, is that an issue? Have tried for the last 5 hours with no luck.

If this is the easy way of installing, what's the hard way?

The easiest is just to set VM to use iso image as CD drive.

Do I need to use Diag Head Emulator with easydis? I have an OBD cable which works perfectly with INPA already.

What are the next steps to get DIS to recognise the Diagnose Interface?

I succesfully installed DIS as described on page 1 and I already configured the Net Configuration in VMWare. What are the next steps?

will DIS V57 work on bmw 2013 128i? My concerns is being able to register my own battery instead of going to the dealership and whipping out loads of cash.

I ended up asking questions about BMW DIS v57 | BMW PROGMAN V32 | INPA Package on their website in regards to purchasing. This is my response.

    -----------

Just wondering, will there be support for 2013 128i in the future?

    Hi,

Unfortunately this software will only work with BMW's upto 2009 year.

With a 2013 model vehicle, your only option is to take it to a BMW Dealer.

    Hi,

No, BMW have changed their diagnostic protocol, access to these vehicles can only be made with an authorised connection to the BMW server in Germany, and therefore unavailable to owners outside of the BMW network.

In short, BMW have now made it impossible to work on their new vehicles unless you are a BMW dealer.

I spent another few hours trying to get it work and it still wouldnt. I installed GT1_v44_programs.iso in VM and made sure the VM diagnostic head is connected. The coding/programming button on the opening page in DIS is still grayed out for some reason.
I used the clear blue cable with ft232bm chip inside. Is it the cable or the software? I need to retrieve trouble codes on the e38 so I can send the unit back to repair. Any inputs would be appreciated.

Is it just me or is this guide dated? Seems to me there is a new version of DIS (v57) and newer versions of the other software like INPA 2010.....and it sounds like some guys are now running this stuff natively on Windows 7 instead of Windows XP or VM?

I downloaded all the packages but am looking to figure out how to do a more current install with the latest packages that will work with the E36. Also need advice on what cable to get. It looks like this one http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1435617 is solid.

    Thanks for any help

My understanding is INPA 5.02/EDIABAS 6.4.7 is 32 bit though which would be better than the older 16 bit app. I understand the E36 doesn't necessarily make use of the improvements but from a pure application improvements standpoint I'd rather be running the 32bit version if no other reason than it should have access to larger memory pools and be quicker in some instances as a result.

Do I have to install the INPA 3.01/EDIABAS 6.4.3 (INPA v3.01-EDIABAS v6,4,3) Full install and then upgrade to 5.02/6.4.7 using the (INPAv5.02_EDIABAS v6.4.7 UPGRADE ONLY) directory files or can one do a clean install from those files?

Also with DIS v44, if I want to run v57, do I need to first install v44 and upgrade to v57 or can I just go straight to v57 install?

In other words, can I follow the guide, but where it calls for DIS v44 use v57 and where it calls for INPA 3, simply use the INPA 5 files?

I too have this same question? I have DIS 57, and would rather just use the newer version if possible

You entered a "Dealer Number" before, did you do it correct? Itīs your password!

Quick question... Can I install this on Linux? I'm dying to know if I could run this program off of my raspberry pi...

I already checked and I saw that I can install VMware to raspberry pi, so I have faith that it can be done.... Rite? LOL

At the # type init 0 then hit [RETURN] to shutdown DIS without saving any modifications.
