How do i remove the amber film on it. any writeups with pics that show the odometer apart?
exactly what I needed, thanks.
Has anyone done this on a car without tilt? I just tried to get mine out and #@%$ing broke the clear plastic on the instrument cluster!
Has anyone here installed the AC S7 gauge faces? I got them recently, will probably attempt this weekend, I plan to remove the amber plastic from odometer and replace with red or blue not sure which yet. Also in all the pics I've seen they show the needles blacked out, would love white, red, or blue needles. Is that at all possible?

On vehicles not equipped with tilt, is a lot less hastle if
you just remove the steering wheel. It saved me some time and
headache, but nonetheless, great Write Up!
Just finished the install and it looks sweet, need to do something with the needles as the white blends with the background in daylight, DJ Genius do you have any pictures with the needle paint you mentioned above.

Great DIY, Thx
Help! Anyone done it on a E46??? I wanna know where's the best wire to attach? I've the T-Taps already but don't know where to "tap"...
Thanks
Hey, I did this on E46 as well.
Taking apart the cluster is exactly the same - everything is the same, but this time I looked for the BEST option to wire them in. And found 2 power wires in one of the cluster harness. As far as I remeber the 12V+ parking light circuit wire was #1 or #7 (you can see they are numbered on that plug), cannot remember exactly.
But there will be only 2 12V+ wires, one of them is constant power and the other one is parking light circuit power (powers up only when the parking light switch is turned ON), that's the one you need.
Here is a picture with T-Taps:
It is hard to see the colors of the wires, but I recommend taking the harness plug apart to be able to reach the connectors and just go through them with voltmeter or gauges inverter.
I'll be doing the DIY for E46 models as well, have all the pictures and all, just need some more spare time.

What's up. I did this with my 1992 BMW 318I sedan without tilt steering wheel. It is a bitch getting the cluster in and out but I have done it about 6 times. I slide mine out from the right side of the steering wheel by the radio. U just have to use a little force and bend it/dash board the right way. But I have a problem. I can't figure out which wires are the ground and which are the power? Cuz I wana connect the gauge cluster plate to the wires going to the gauge cluster, not the window switch or the ciggeratee lighter because I tried that yesterday and fucked up my window switches lol and don't wana mess around with those anymore. Anyone have a site that tells u which wires are which on the gauge cluster

Drop me an email at Kirsten dot geukens at hotmail dot com. I *should* have all the electric schemes for E36's on my PC.
On E46 I used black harness of the cluster, used 1 and 7 wires, as far as I remember.
#1 BROWN - ground (-).
#7 GREY/RED - power (+).
I think it should be the same on E36 models.
