According to BENTLEY manual, the resistance between pin 1 and 3 of the TPS should be 4K ohms.mine reads 3.6K.I tested a brand new one and it shows 4K.Is my TPS faulty?
I can't say if it is defective but I think that is about an 11% deviation. A good spec, IMO, is 5% or less. If they (tps)are inexpensive, why not pick one up and test it out to see what the result is? Measure it at the dealer BEFORE you take it home since electrical parts are non returnable.
Post the results here for us to learn from.
BTW the number listed in the bentley manual is an approximate value. It may be more important that it operate smootly. That is to say that the impedance will change linearly with throttle displacement. No sudden jumps in value.

it should be OK.but i know on a ford 302EFI,the tps adjustment must be dead on or it's bad or needs adjusting(sorry for saying the "F" word in a BMW forum )how is the car idling?and how is the throttle response?
