Looks very nice with the tan interior and wood trim.
I like it! Beige with wood accents is classy. Black with wood doesn't look good though.
Considering my console trim is already 12.5 years old, it matches quite well. The leather on the new wheel is noticeably softer and richer than the stock leather (my car originally had the extended leather wheel which was dyed beige to match the console). I hear the folks who think it looks Lexus-like but since my console is wood, I like it. I'll keep the original wheel for track events; takes all of 5 minutes to change

I think it looks fine and to each his own. Anyone thinking that smashing your face or head into the stock steering wheel would be much more forgiving is fooling themselves. It there is no air bag deployment, you would not be happy with the impact. I just removed some of the extra wood trim I had put in and like the cleaner look but that may be an option you would want to pursue now with the steering wheel.
Now in E92 M3 ZCP -- Absolute beast
so, lol, 6 years later, where do I get this wheel???
thx,
riz
I just got one for my 3.0 Coupe (Oxford Green w/ beige/walnut root wood trim) from an ebay seller in Estonia. There was a guy on this forum selling one recently as well. I haven't installed it yet though. I think it's from an E39 or similar. Not sure if it's a two stage airbag or not, but I've got some resistors if needed. I'll try to do a write up on it, assuming I don't mess anything up!

Awaken old thread!! I have always liked wood steering wheels. I also like leather. That's it.
I'm a wood guy and also retro. I made my own wooden steering wheel + shift knob and e-brake.

I'd love to do more interior remodeling but time and money are short right now.
Thanks. Here's the build process.

Why go with wood when you could have this! Although you may be arrested for driving while stupid.Attachment 684684
