I'am still not sure what to buy, BC Coilovers, B14 Bilsteins or Koni Yellow's with Eibachs.
So let me know your opinions :P
I had my bc's custom made with spring rates and the extra 1" drop, still work perfectly after 2 years. Ride quality is variable depending on your setup and adjustability settings but no complaints. I paid around $1100 at the time.

What spring rates are you running?
Love mine. Custom rates 9k 6k. Worked great on the track. I had a weird clicking but adjustable spring rates fixed that. 15 clicks all around. 3mm of preload.

10/12k if I recall correctly. Just looked at the invoice as it was $1070 shipped with the "extreme drop," but took about 2-3 weeks. The prices haven't changed at all in the last 2 years.
i ordered mine from flushstance.com same price as eBay but the service is top notch and they can even recommend what spring rates would be best for your application not to mention they offer the "extreme drop," and spring rates up to 20/20k. You just have to email them and request it.

Front/rear? Rear/front?
12 front 10 rear. There's a lot of debate regarding the distribution but my logic at the time was that with the weight of the engine in the front I would go 12.

Recently acquired a 03 540 with BC's installed on it. Only complaint i have is when trying to raise the car a bit the threaded sleeve was damn near stuck. Had to use PB blaster and channel locks to break it loose. Now the threads are all galled up.
My only complaint is the lack of adjustability in the rear, if you see my current signature, the rear is at MAX low without adjusting the spring rates.

Havin trouble finding these in the uk. They are on eBay but I can't select an option to go on my 540i they seem to say they just fit any e39 523 520 528 etc too.
Not sure if mine are different but mine go so low i could lay the frame on the ground if i wanted. My height adjust is only halfway and im slightly tucking tire the whole way around.
awesome ride, but not until the preload is properly set. Get it wrong and it either rattles or rides like a tank.

Just about to order these. It says e39 all models it's not model specific ie 525 is no different to 535 540i etc. Can anyone just wuickly clarify this for me? Thanks
They're all the same, you get to choose different spring rates.

By reading through this and other similar threads, you can evaluate which spring rates option is best for you.
Cheers, Dennis!
Thanks for your help. Most I've seen go 8-6 so I'm going for that.
I went with 540i specs 8/6 and was relaly happy. I had a 528i and felt the stiffer rate was good.
Just ordered them. So glad I did it now as the suspension question has been in my head for about a month. Extensive research and headaches on it. Was going to go koni yellow and h&r but something told me not to in case I wasn't happy with the look it gave me. But still I'm more than happy with these. Will update soon when they are on for the uk guys. Went for 8-6 rates and brought the extensions too. Going to be paired up with m5 sway (Anti roll bars) so am litrally like a kid at Christmas right now.
I have BC, came with the car I bought from a friend. The car handles great and rides great. still trying to find the click for the dampener setting. The ride height is set a little low, which Im going to have to raise soon. I just need to find the right spanner wrenches. Cant seem to find the sizes I need. Anyone?
