This is nothing short of awesome.
Especially the fact that this turbo BMW sees a real track.

Thank you! That was the intent of this build from the very beginning... Anthony has been hinting to me to finish building the cage out and running the car as a Mod car... um no

It is 034 Motorsport stg 2c their most fully featured unit. I have had very good luck installing and using these systems. Good stuff! I may be partial... but I really like e30's (I have 3 of them)

    Awesome build
Thank you man! I'm still practicing my trade And I completely agree that it was a hoot just reeling in cars from a corner. Almost like a video game... It didn't matter really how far ahead the car was... we could catch it and pass

As for right now... I am in the afterglow. Contemplating the next phase of development. Of course the body needs finishing... But I am a little more concerned with getting the rear suspension setup worked out and tire choices and brakes dialed in. I will be pulling the rear subframe very shortly to reinforce some things and work on the toe out issue. Should make the car a lot less unruly on track. If things go the way I want them to, I'll be putting on 315-30-18 rear tires and running 245-35-18 fronts. I think that will give me more options with the suspension tuning to get it to be more neutral but still allow power sliding antics on corner exits (but on purpose not as a matter of course). The fronts would be slightly shorter allowing me to raise up the springs on the front but maintain same ride height for more travel and clearance on the body. As Anthony mentioned we are fixing the dead feel brakes also. Need better pads etc etc... The other big thing I have been dealing with is brand/style of rear wing. I know what I want for sure... affording that as well as the other things that are needed right now...hmmm Something will be done for sure. I might even make the damn thing! There is also more tuning that needs to happen. Hell maybe even more boost. Not that I am not content with it now. Just have to see We want to be as ready as possible for the One lap! Might be some stiff competition and it will be up to Anthony's deft driving skills to pull it out!

Anthony is having some issues getting the in car videos converted for some reason (something like 2gb! he filled his 80gb hd) In the mean time he is going to try maybe today to put up some of the other video from outside the car that I shot with his camera. It will be more of the same for the most part. I am dying to see the incar (even though you really don't get the feeling of power until passing someone) More to follow...

Some of the data coming in BIG thanks go out to Andy Welter, photographer (http://the-welters.com/racing/index.html) For letting us borrow his Racelogic data logger that can be sourced from Jeremy Lucas, FastTech http://www.fasttechlimited.com/) Thanks again guys! (I really want one of these things )

Here is what we got on one of the runs... cool stuff!

Can you have the vbox give the data for 60-130 only for that section? My car is roughly a second slower, but I also only used 4th vs 3rd and 4th.

I really don't know how to use the software that much honestly... I just lined up the cursor to show the times and speeds as close as possible and then figured the time. Using 4th for this car would be difficult only because of the gearing... and really on track we wouldn't do it. He basically uses 3rd and 4th exclusively (sometimes 5th for a little bit)

I just looked at the tracks we will be visiting... YAY! Road America! Be ready for the data logger to show 175+!!! That should be interesting for Anthony!

Thank Kevin. I'll try to make sure you guys always have data available for your testing and of course for One Lap, maybe even with real time video.

I looked through the data for that session (only session it was in the car) and 8.2 was the fastest I measured.

Here's some comparisons between the turbo car and Andy's M3. Here is lateral g & speed graph. Car is actually doing really well pulling the same cornering Gs as the R888 shod E36M3 but only being on street tires which shows you have shaving weight can pay off.

Here is longitudinal g & speed graph. 0.6g of forward accel in 3rd gear pulls down the back straight! For some comparison, that's roughly equal to my old Z06 track car (385whp) on 315 wide R comps, except the Turbo E30 can maintain it for a lot longer duration than the Z06.

Well the work continues... Soon it will be time to get the car painted In the interim, I have installed 600lb springs in the rear (hopefully that will be all I need to do there) and I just finished up making front dive planes (diy of course). They might not be the prettiest things... but I think they'll do the job of fairing air around most of the leading edge of the front tires. As well as provide a little more downforce. I am still working out my rear wing issue as well. The front bumper is also getting an extension piece that has a small splitter edge on it... one more thing I yet have to purchase UGH!!!

Hopefully soon Anthony edits that GoPro video footage and gets it online. Again, by far my favorite footage!

Oh and I was sent this... 8.17 sec 60-130!
