Thanks everyone! Really appreciate the positive comments!... not sure what I can attribute the sound of the car too... Could be just the way I have the exhaust set up... I am using a Magnaflow 3" in dual 2.5 out with staggered slash cut tips. Sometimes just having the tips this way can modify the sound slightly. I doubt the sound has anything to do with the ITB's as they can't be heard through the plenum or well any of the plumbing etc. Just a little 2.8 screaming it's butt off! I am still waiting on a new sensor for my AEM boost gauge... so I went this morning and purchased a cheap sunpro gauge (wow what crap)! But, now I can see that my little adjustments have me at a solid 12psi! AFR's are fairly solid from 11.5-12.0. Timing is still a touch conservative yet... but tha's fine for me. I see full boost (if I stay in it) in first gear as well. In third, I can get 5-8 psi in somewhere between 2800-3200. Turbo system is very active and linear... no real lag to speak of honestly! Just step on it and away you go! Very happy with results thusfar!

Stop on in! Maybe by then I'll have 'er running in tip top! So far I have only put 87 miles on the project! I have a lot of tuning yet to do! But it happens pretty quickly when I can sit in the passenger seat. I don't really know if I will hit my target of 600+ whp... but as it stands I don't know if I need it! I want to make sure it is going to be as reliable as it is fast. I will know more after this weekend at the track. I expect if all goes well it will have over 200 track ran miles on it. That should be a good indicator of reliability. Hoping to be only working on suspension setup and not engine or other. My fingers are crossed!

Just finished some road tuning... started up by nailing down the boost level. I have it set now for 15psi spikes just a tad on its way and then solid 15. All the while making sure the AFR's were decent then made sure on subsequent pulls it was as I wanted. Pulls like a monster! We took a couple of videos... Anthony should be getting them up soon hopefully!

Testing last night went well. Got the boost upped to 15psi and could really feel the difference. Using very round numbers, we might be looking at 400(?) hp, or so.

Thanks Chris! Everyone please disregard what I am saying... LOL I haven't tuned a lot of the map yet so it misses a little bit on throttle tip in and Anthony isn't used to dealing with that sort of thing. So I was trying to give him some hints as to how to try and drive around the lean spots in the accel enrichment and sections of the map. The ITB's make tuning a little more tricky as they can flow SOOO much and typically dont give as much vacuum as a single throttle body. Right now the car only has a little over 125miles of driving time and not all of that was while tuning. So it is still way rough. The WOT tuning is pretty good though right now. I think Anthony just needs more seat time to learn the quirks of the car and he'll be able to drive it buttery smooth. The past two mornings I have been driving in to work and been around about 5 cops! You have to learn how to make it seem like a normal stock car or they might get curious! Good thing the car isn't really loud!

I am cleaning up the bodywork now... and going to have all of the bare metal, and fiberglass in gray primer. Looking forward myself to seeing it in basically one color!

15psi 35r on a s52 should be more like 450 instead of 400 at the wheel

    Couple of things to note:

    1. He has an M52, not an S52 - so a .4 liter difference in displacement.

    2. Early in his tune - and this guy got 400/400 out of a dinky VW 4 pot, so I think its safe to say he can get to 450 and then some with this.

And my 400hp estimate is +/- 50 hp

But yeah, M52, so 2.8L with stock cams.

It's very likely I dare say... I honestly guesstimate it to be about 425. All I can say is it's healthy that's for sure! I told my wife last night that it is JUST ABOUT as fast maybe as my old Golf... which to date is the fastest car I have ever driven including Corvette's and Porsche turbos and such. But I think it needs about 475-500 to beat the Golf honestly because of the weight disadvantage.

No she didn't she was happy to hear it because my BMW HAS to be faster than the Golf... but not sure I understand the perspective of your question. Roll her eyes because the Golf shouldn't be, or isn't that fast, or that the BMW can't be as fast? Again don't understand.

The Golf was/is a freak of nature. It has to be driven/ridden in to fully understand.

Yesterday was crazy! I went through most of the whole car checking/tightening most everything to get it ready. I also installed the five point harness' compliments of Bimmertools.com. Just the day or so before installed the four point cage! I went through and sanded down the rough spots on the bodywork and spray bomb primed it to hopefully keep the metal rust free. Most of which will most likely be sanded all back down I am sure prior to final painting. Been really busy!

Pics from last night loading it up!

Ah... Actually, to be with me it is a prerequisite to know of and care about what is going on with our cars. She still misses the Golf and the attention it got (just like a woman LOL). She is truly coming around to the BMW though because it is not only going to be faster, it just looks way better doing it!

SERIOUSLY! Trust me I am concerned to say the least! The back tires seem rather hard to me. I was playing around in the parking lot last night spinning them rather easily at will (without beating on the clutch really)

Actually, looks like no rain for us. Will likely be wet Saturday morning, though. Thats fine, though, cause we can concentrate on the suspension w/out using power.

You are prolly right around 375-400hp on setup with the custom intake manifold... I say this because you say you still going easy on timing.

Update: Timing... Well a friend/colleague came up with a great idea for checking timing since it is basically impossible to see with my setup. If you're doing something similar and need a fix to this situation I have the best idea ever! (not my idea I have to say)... First off put the engine at TDC as best you can. Then make a pointer to mount on the block and mark the crank wheel to match it. Then take a coil pack, take off the plug extension. Install (I used a 16v VW) plug wire. Remove the No1 coilpack, plug the new spark plug wire in and fire it up with your timing light attached... Raise the car to see the new mark and time away! My car was WAY off. It now runs much better and I expect a LOT more power even with conservative timing. It was a whole tooth off, and 15*! It's all aligned with the ECU now and the throttle response is insane! LOVE IT!

    Pics showing what I did:

your car must fell completely different with the corrected timing!
    Awesome idea...
So, do you all think that the cam blocks and flywheel are not accurate enough?? I have also before stuck a long extension down cyl. 1 sprak plug hole to find TDC.... which in the end made right at 20"hg in vacuum at idle, so it must be real close.
