Just did an oil change on my 2018 M240i. Got the oil filter out in one piece.
Out of curiosity I was looking into the oil filter housing and saw something that looked like a crack/hole.
One YT one felow claims this is the inlet hole. But it looks so rough is this realy normal? I've got no oil leaks and the old oil came out fairly clean.

The second picture I've found online and is not from my car but it is much clearer.

Anyone?
If any DIY'rs here plan to do an oil change soon I would love to see a picture from the inside of your housing.
Here is also a link from YT where I got the second picture from

I don’t have pictures but I did my oil change a few hours ago I’ve been panicking since,
But i saw the image u posted and instantly was relieved when I saw that characteristic tooth at the top of the hole.
I’m still not confident all is well, but I’m confident enough now to drive it to my mechanic just to get a more confident answer.
I was at 5k miles when I did the oil change which also happened to be 1 day before I went stage 2 on bm3. I was thinking that the tune increased oil pressure and it blew a hole in the housing.
I’m not sure if the oil pump is electronic or bound the the crank, which would automatically tell me whether oil pressure increased with the tune but still, one hell of an emotional rollercoaster
