Thumbs up Remove the Stoopid Visor Warning Stickers

OK...it works! I don't remember seeing any actual pix of this being done so here they are...

Packing tape, hairdryer and your wits...

I used two pieces of tape (cause one didn't quite cover it) and heated for about one minute.

As you can see, it removed ALL of the sticker but left a bit of tackiness so after removing, I applied more tape (no heat) to remove any gumminess. VOILA, no more ugly warning sticker.

I was a bit wary about trying this but my driver's side failed and it allowed me to experiment without any concerns. DO IT, you'll be glad you did!

Nice post, 12CoolDude. It looks pretty good although I suppose it's impossible to get rid of the outline completely. I desperately need to do this because the driver side sticker is all nasty and ripped from where the PO tried to remove it (It also could have been caused by an aftermarket garage door opener).

Just to clarify, this DIY does NOT require removal of the visor, correct?

I'll tow this to the DIY section after it get's some comments.

    Thanks Bro!!

Absolutely NOT necessary to remove the visor. The example was the broken one that I removed but as soon as I finished, climbed into the passenger side and successfully removed the passenger side sticker. It looks MUCH better than that fugly warning sticker!!

I assume you could use some sort of fabric cleaner to get rid of the faint outline and I may try to do that on the broken visor. I'll post the results at some point but for now, I'm HAPPY!!!

    Its a great idea.
Cheifwej posted up the fix (no pics ) in an older thread about removing the stickers from the non-fabric visor.
Thanks to 12CoolDude for documenting the DIY!

I used (and posted) that method about two years ago, when I was detailing an e39 for a friend.

I removed mine when I did this so that I could clean the visor afterward. I used a Bissell Little Green machine and it gently and safely cleaned the 'outline' - which is really just accumulated grime and fingerprints. When finished, they looked brand new. Still do.

ABSOLUTELY and now that I know who to credit...thank you Chiefwej!!! This was the reason for my "inspiration" but as I stated, I didn't think that there were any pix involved. Your link confirms this and you know what so many members say here...if there aren't any pictures, it didn't happen!

In the thread link that chiefwej posted, Cam (cnn) recommends using acetone to get rid of the outline.

Yes, acetone works to remove gunk off vinyl and leather, but don't scrub, just gently wipe. Then clean off residue.

    12CoolDude,

Try a product call Bestine to remove the tackiness. This fluid works wonders & dries/evaporates almost instantly... !

I like the sticker but I don't have one on my car since the local law does not require the lable....

But I seem to think that most people who have Euro version likes the North America market version and vice versa....

Like people on this board that likes the Euro sliding arm rest, while people with the Euro sliding armrest like the non sliding ones....interesting....

This may sound stoopid but, in detail, how did you get the visor off?

You do not need to remove the visor for this DIY unless you have some other reason for wanting to take it off.

Missed this from a long time ago. Did you ever figure out how easily they are removed?
