so sick.. any idea what tire you can run on a 18x9.5et35 rear on an e36?

I have 255/35/18 Dunlop Star specs in the rear right now (which run wide, more like 265mm in other brands) and it rubs quite a bit without a good amount of negative camber. I'd say stick to 235-245 max and you're golden. 225 stretched would clear EASY. 235 is easy too.
Looks hot as usual! I'm running a 12mm front spacer now too to clear the Z06 BBK.. still clears fine for auto-x and track use with enough camber

MMMM.
What I would give for some 17x10 concaves in ET 20 or 25 =-)
Alas, I might just have to settle for some of those 18's.
On a side note, how many people would it take to put together a group buy for some 17x10 ARC-8's? I know it would probably require retooling / redesigning and a considerable amount of resources, but I was just curious. I'd love to see some low offset concave ones =-)
oh my god man

thanks for the info! do you have your fenders rolled? 245 seems like a bit narrow of a tire for a 9.5" rim. I would love to run a 255 or a 265, but I just dont know if an e36 rear fender can be rolled enough for that. How much negative camber are you running to fit the 255?

My fenders are very mildly rolled all around.
The 255 doesn't fit well. Also, with a narrower tire, you have much more response during direction changes. Mike @ TRM recommended I go no wider than 245-255 on my 9.5 wheel for handling response at the auto-x. Big tires respond slowly and feel disconnected comparatively.
That said, my 255/35/18 star spec does NOT fit all that well because I am not running enough rear camber for it to go very low. I have the rear raised a fair amount right now, and it still will rub the fender at an auto-x or while driving fast over bumps. If you wanted to run it low on a big tire, you're going to need a lot of rear camber, and that somewhat defeats the purpose of the wide tire anyway, as you barely have any of it touching the ground with tons of negative camber.
This is how high it sits now with 255 star specs in the rear and not much negative camber. (ugly as sin, IMO compared to when I had the 235s on it and could slam it)
I honestly say stay 225-245 if you want to run the 9.5 and go low. The 9.5 simply isn't designed for the E36 with it's low offset, but it just looks too damn good to ignore it as an option.

Ooooh! Great photos.
I'd love to fit a 9.5" but fear fitting them would be tough with the AST 4100s. I'm currently running Style 119s, which are 17x8 with et47. I HAVE to run a 15mm spacer up front to fit them. Anyone think the 9.5" are possible in the front?

ET47 is huge offset. You can fit them up front with a lower offset. May need to run a 5mm spacer but I was able to clear mine with no spacer. (Granted not on ASTs, but if the shock body is no thicker than the typical coilover and you can make sure the bottom spring perch is adjusted to above the tire, then you're golden.)
How much clearance to the coilover do you have currently with your 17x8 ET32? (47 - 15mm spacer)
For reference, a 9.5 +35 would have 22 mm LESS inner clearance than what you have currently, so plan accordingly. You should have tons of inner room right now though. My guess is you don't have your lower spring perch above the tire. (Have really long springs and/or no preload on them to get the perch above the tire)
Run a shorter spring up front so you can get the lower perch higher, or just play with this calculator to figure out what spacer you need to run to achieve the same clearance as what you have now. (It will be a 22mm spacer based on what I just said, assuming you have NO inner clearance to play with. I can tell you for sure that a 20+mm spacer will not clear the front with the 9.5s. I have a 12mm on it and -4 ish camber and it clears. 20mm no way)

These are a great set of wheels. Fairly light too aren't they?
The 18x9.5 concave wheels are 18.85 pounds!
And correct me if Im wrong, but there roll formed, I believe so thats gonna equate to a pretty strong wheel.
These are really some of the nicest wheels on the market.
Affordable, Nice looking, strong, light, and concave if you so desire but that falls in the "nice looking" category.
Id love to have a set, If i wasnt getting a set of BBS magnesium race wheels Id definitely buy a set.
Im sure Ill own a set of these sometime in the next few years.
PM/email me for some of the cleanest and safest redrills money can buy.

Unless there was about 50 people for a complete set of 4 for an unusual fitment like this, it not really be possible.
AST 4100's are one of the easiest coilovers to combine with wide wheels. Your suspension will not cause any issues unless you run the ride height so low that the spring perch is next to the tire. When you do that you all of a sudden loose 15-20mm of clearance. You can either adjust it higher or run a shorter front spring. If you're worried about fender gap, remember that if your new 18" tire has a taller OD then it will fill the gap more then the 17's did.Originally Posted by MPRESV
Your current wheels are extremely conservative on the offset. Most 8" wheels have a more aggressive offset around 35-40. If you're running a tire wider then 225, then you absolutely need a thick spacer with your current wheel.
Remember it's very common for E36's to still run a 10-12mm spacer when running a wider square setup, due to strut tube clearance issues at high offsets.
If you go off the experience of others that have done the setup you want, then it will fit just the same.
